Re: My First AR Build.....

Well, I don't think you could have gone with a finer barrel... I have now replaced every one of my rifles with a Noveske, four total. Call me a fan boy or whatever you want; they make great stuff. Let us know how it shoots.

A fan boy is a person who will stand even behind a bad product just because of a name (L****) being on of them. Noveske makes a great barrel so nothing wrong with pointing out a good product

Thanks, Strangeday, you just made my day. True, if Noveske started putting out crap, I would drop them like a bad habbit.

Re: My First AR Build.....

Im I seeing this correctly but do all left handed AR's dust covers flip upwards?

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread but i was just noticing this today.

How does she shoot?

Re: My First AR Build.....

She shoots great so far but my buddy's neighbors' house I was shooting at had a bench at 100 yards and with an eotech it is hard to hold in the same spot (bc you can't see the spot). I have a Burris Tac30 1-4x on backorder and will be able to shoot some better groups in a month or so and I'll post some targets.

I am of the buy once cry once crowd so I went with the Noveske b/c I knew I would have ended up there eventually.

Re: My First AR Build.....

The wait for the Tac30 is worth it. I think its a great scope for $300. Illumination is really good, glass is clear, field of view at 1x is like a good red dot. I like the hell out of mine. It sits just right in the Larue SPR 1.5 if you don't have a mount or rings yet.

I got a DTI 1x9. Been eyeballing either a 16 or 18" 1x8 twist Noveske for a while now. It will have to wait though.

Good catch, I did not even see that. Kinda interesting.

I liked what I saw of the tac30 from the reviews and got to test out my buddy's last weekend. It seems like a great value for the money, I feel to get a better scope you would really have to spend at least double or more than what the tac30 goes for.

Interesting as I am new to ARs I never noticed. I've only shot a couple of my friends before and didn't really inspect them in that great detail.

New Pics

I sold my eotech and replaced it with a Burris Tac30. I mounted it on a Larue SPR that I got used from a member here.

I also traded in my 11" tube for a 13" with Noveske before I shot it. I noticed with the 11" that there was not room to mount a bipod due to the location of the gas block. The 13" has enough room in front of the gas block to get one mounted.

Re: New Pics

Now that's a fine rifle. Noveske is going to be my next purchase. Glad you got rid of the Eotach.

Go out and enjoy that fine looking rifle, a couple of test targets would be appreciated.

Good score.

Yeah I planned to ditch the eotech from the start, I had it already and was using it temporarily until I decided what to go with.

Thanks for the comments.

Re: My First AR Build.....

I am getting into long range tactical rifle and while I wait on my .260 build, I put my SWFA SS 5-20 on this AR and shots some at 300 and 400.

I am currently shooting Black Hills 77 SMK blue box but have some southwestammo 5.56 77 SMK on order which should give me a bit more velocity.

Here is my target at 400 yards....I'd say its a keeper. Once my 260 is done i'm thinking of putting a 3-9X optic since obviously this rifle deserves more then just a 4x max.

Re: My First AR Build.....

That was my 4th time shooting past 250 (hunting) in my life and the first time with my own equipment that I sighted, doped and wind called myself. The other times I was just pulling the trigger and taking instruction from my buddy on dope an wind.

Re: My First AR Build.....

Hey your rifle looks wonderful, want to say thank you because I have never heard of noveske and I think on my s&w m&p 15t I might get the barrel question though do I need To buy anything else or will the barrel just fit? New to rifle building.

So long as the barrel comes with an extension, it's a simple fit. Take off handguards, gasblock/gastube, barrel nut. Then stab in new bbl (i like to use a little antiseize on the threads) barrel nut from old bbl & the rest is reverse sequence. Dont let barrel changing intimidate you, its not hard. It is nice to have a vise with a receiver block & you will need basic allenwrenches, screwdriver maybe & a barrel wrench (I like the PRI barrel wrench). The only thing that could throw you a curve is if you have a pinned on gas block & the new barrel doesnt have the right slots. If that is the case I highly recommend going to a SYRAC Ord adj gas block (while you're at it).

Re: My First AR Build.....

Thanks guys. I have my 5-20 swfa on it now until my 260 is done then I'll put a swfa 3-9 I have sitting at my house. With a 3" group at 400 yards it needs more then a 1-4.
