Ok so I recently sold my bullet hose (mac11) an decided I wanted another 308 and have always wanted an AX chassis build. I also came to the idea I want a Premier scope. Well I bought a scope from Beenjammin (great seller) cause I couldn't pass up an awesome deal. I then bought the AX chassis from EuroOptic. Just recently I purchased an Rem700 AAC since its threaded already for my suppressor.

Now my main concern and somewhat of a question is did I just improve a good rifle or build up a rifle that will shoot just as it did $4000 ago ??
I feel the chassis and scope are more of a cosmetic addition until the rifle is trued/lapped/bolt face, you know the gunsmith type of stuff to improve accuracy.
Am I correct on my assumptions ?
WhaT do most people think I should do to take full advantage of the extras I've added ?

This is my first real project as my other 308's have been factory setup to perform
    DTA 22" 308/USO 3.2-17
    DPMS SASS/USO 3.2-17
    R700 McRee obermeyer/NXS5.5-22

    Sorry for the long post...

Yes, I concur. What would a new rifle do that what you already have can't?

    Here's my thinking on supressors.

The burden of current law makes them more trouble than the are worth to me. In such a climate, I can get by without any.

If the rule of law ever gets compromised, I'm not going to worry about laws, and I just might give them a try.

Until then, I pretty much like it here on the fence.

lucky for the rest of us (at least in more free states)...the current laws aren't a burden.

Greg and I share a similar disadvantage living in NY.

To the OP, the rem probably will be the least accurate gun you own out of the three you listed with the exception of maybe the DPMS.

Hmmm...looking at your other rifles, and the other items you are putting into this new build, I am scratching my head wondering why you bought a stock Rem700 AAC in order to drop that barreled action into the AX chassis and then attach a Premier scope?

Seems like you would have been better off to do a custom build from scratch, unless you have the money/time to play with and just had some wild hair about owning a Rem700 AAC.

    Just my $.02...

I would send those extras to a good smith and build a .260 rem or a 6.5x47 lapua. It's going to have to go to the shop anyway, you might as well maximize potential. just an idea. Good luck

Re: New Build... Or just diamonds on a goats ass

I guess the AAC was the cheapest route to get this up and running. By already purchasing the major items the only item left was a barreled action. Honestly Mr Tooley this is your fault as I've been drooling over 1505scouts build you did. I'll admit this is on the lower end of my current rifles but with the $515 I have in that rifle I can use till I have the funds to have 1 of the smiths on here setup the rifle properly. I already have a PTG bolt & Shillen barrel. Just saving for the Defiance action, then let smith do their magic. Or do you'll think the 700 action will suffice once worked over? Then once that's done I'll swap out actions and replace AAC in its stock and recoup most of my funds. Or sell the barrel & stock to buy more ammo.

On the suppressors... I LOVE TEXAS !!!
This rifle will wear a 30ba
