Hey guys, I tried to search for this but could not find any reports.

I have read numerous threads about the 10x42 etc but was wondering if anyone has tried one of these yet? Or the non-hd 10x42 mil/mil version for that matter.

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

Well shit!!! That's a good question. Especially since I just ordered one yesterday, LoL!!!!! I guess I'll post something about it for you later this week when I get it.

Nice, I look forward to your thoughts on it.

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

I finally got around to shooting with it today. Tracks great. Used it on my Grendel at 100 yards, 3 shot group to find my dope and 3 shots to confirm that it was sighted.

I like the 12x dials better than my old 10x mil/moa. Glass quality is about the same or maybe just a touch better. Mil-quad reticle was easy to get used to and I like it better than the mildot. Great scope for the money and I have no problem recommending it.

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

Well thats good to hear cb_tikka. I really liked the look of the mil-quad reticle. It appears to be a nice useable reticle.

I Appreciate the feedback.

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

Yeah I liked the reticle too, a big selling point to me, and now they are mil/mil. I like your feedback too, tikka. I hear SWFA ships fast, I hope so.

Edit; hey tikka I just noticed you from N. Kalifornistan like me, where abouts?

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

Good to hear its working out for you. I'm planning on putting one of these on my new Savage 10 PC in the very near future.

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

I have the 16x and like it. For the money its a sweet scope IMO, My next one will probably be the the 12x

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

I have one, and SWFA provided excellent customer service with my transaction.

I would say it is a great choice for $300. The biggest selling point for these scopes is the mil/mil and adjustments/tracking which everyone already knows.

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

Mine is on the brown truck as of yesterday. They claim be here the 27th. I hope for the 26th.

Re: Anyone try the SS 12x42 mil/mil yet?

Does the SS 12x42 have better glass than a Nikon Buckmaster 4-14x40??

I am looking at getting the 12x42 but just want to be sure.

Thanks

No, not even close and I have both scopes in question. My nikon buckmaster is the 4.5-14x40 mil-dot. Nikon's glass beats it hands down. It is most apparent when comparing resolution, but nikon wins in every category: sharpness, contrast, clarity, and brightness.

However, for a long-range rig if you want ample adjustment and matching reticle/ turrets the ss is the way to go.
