i have been thinking about picking one up. the one i looked at had a 5 round mag. i have seen people talk about them having an extended 7 round mag. is this standard? does it come with the 5 and 7?

Re: XDs

What caliber and size pistol? 5-7 seems awful low. My 4" XD 9 has 16 rnd mags from factory. My 4.5" XDM 40 came stock with 16 rnd as well.

Re: XDs

The XDs is a 45 ACP pistol that Springfield built to compete with the S&W M&P Shield.

The only mags that came with the XDs that I saw were 5 rd. mags.

In all honesty, unless you are just sold on one, I would go with the M&P 45 Compact or even the Glock 36. Either of those are better than the XDs.

Re: XDs

Rooster, have you compared all three yourself?

I like the xds, I just bought one.

Lapua is correct about the 9 holding so much more, my xd subcompact holds 13+1 with the flush magazine. I'll tell you though, the xds is Much slimmer.

Of course it's all about preference. I wanted a skinny 45, why not?

It does come with 2 5 round mags. I took one apart and it sure seems like the follower could be trimmed and the mag would hold 6. I haven't heard anyone try that, and I won't until I get a spare in hand in case I ruin one.

I frankly can't make a good argument for the xds when I have the subcompact 9mm and a SP101 in .357. I haven't even shot the terd yet, hopefully tomorrow.

Re: XDs

i have the XDm 3.8 compact as well, but when you put both side by side, and try both in a carry situation, the XDs is a lot nicer. so much nicer in fact, that i would be willing to give up the extra rounds. in all honesty, i just let my XDm sit in my truck, or i only carry when i take my boy for walks.

this guy talks about a 5 rnd and 7 rnd mag:

if you look, you can see he has the 7 rnd extended mag in one of the pics.

here, he has a pic that you can clearly see the extended mag:

Re: XDs

I have the XDs. It has been flawless through all 400 rounds I have had time to shoot. I held the Shield 9mm which has a capacity of 7+1 and the .40 has a capacity of 6+1. I can honestly say that other than the trigger, which I give a slight nod to over the XDs trigger, the XDs is a much nicer pistol.

It is almost exactly the same size and the grip texture is much more aggressive. I also love the safeties that the XDs provides, especially for pocket carry situations. I have been carrying the XDs in my pocket for a few weeks now and its been awesome.

The XDs only comes with two 5 round magazines, but an optional 7 round magazine is available for purchase as well.
