Need a little help from a good smith or shop

I have a Savage 110 in .300wm with McMillan A5 that I sometimes compete with but I've ran into an issue with the bottom metal and magazines (AI 5-rounders). If upward pressure is applied to the magazine, even with rounds in it, the bolt hits the back of the mag and won't close. I ran into this during a match last year shooting off of a couple of barricades like a hay bail and railroad tie.

Who would be a good smith or shop here on the hide that isn't backed up that can take a look at this and hopefully install a magazine stop so the mag won't go too far up and cause this problem? Any shops that have already done this?

Re: Need a little help from a good smith or shop

Did I accidentally post on arfcom?

Re: Need a little help from a good smith or shop

don't like a truthful answer?...

a mag stop is fairly simple... anyone w/ a drill press and a tap can do it...

pick a smith

Re: Need a little help from a good smith or shop

Any smiths out there that have done this and would be willing to take a look (if you aren't too backed logged), I'd appreciate a PM.

Force_Multiplier, thanks for the tip and I hope you have a good evening.

Re: Need a little help from a good smith or shop

I was always instructed not to brace off of the magazine.

Thanks Jig, I'll give them a call on Monday. I called one of the big shops on Friday and they are 2+ months out on new work.

Basically just "met" the guy but I already can't say enough good things about him. I've seen him help out a bunch of members here so I don't know why I was surprised to get a PM and call from him. I'm going to try a couple suggestions of his soon and if I can't get it to work I'll give you a shout. I really appreciate it and good lookin' out brother.
