Is this a good deal?

Re: New to Snipers Hide

That will get the job done.

Re: New to Snipers Hide

If you like that platform just the way it sits, that's a totally fair price. Not a mind blowing price, but totally fair.

Savages are great, but resale is shit. You better LOVE it, because they don't sell well.

Don't sweat the ~100 rounds. My first savage barrel lasted ~6000 rounds, running it hard the whole time. They're not broken in till 400-500.

Nice rifle, though I don't personally dig the T5A stock.

Re: New to Snipers Hide

If you are going to drop 1800 you can do a lot better than a polished turd.

Re: New to Snipers Hide

Stop seeking approval. It's a good price if you think it's good.

It probably very hard to ruin a rifle with just 100 rounds, Nothing is impossible.

I think Savage rifles are the best deal around. I would never pay $1800 $1650 for a Savage anything; not new, and especially not used.

My question is, are you the seller? Fill out your profile. Could be a nice way to get some free eyeballs on your post, right? Let us know if you buy it!

My thoughts as well. It's a new Gunsamerica account as well as a new hide account.....

Re: New to Snipers Hide

You could buy all the components new and have less than that in it and have the satisfaction of building it yourself. That would include a new Savage action, Shilen Select Match barrel, CDI bottom metal, AICS mag, 20 or 30 moa mount, HS stock, and bipod and maybe even a good set of rings. Price sounds kinda high for what you're getting but not a bad price if you don't want to work on it. They can call it a polished turd if they want but they are shooters and are easy to work on.

Like someone else mentioned, fill our your profile. If you lived close to us we'd be more than glad to let you try out our polished turds at Rayners here in Ohio before you buy.

I don't see how. Doesn't a Savage action cost $400 with no trigger? And the barrel is $400, the CDI nearly $200. So that's $1000 and you still don't have a magazine, nightforce rail or the $$$ manners stock.

Re: New to Snipers Hide

So you can build a budget Savage for less than the one the OP posted.

Fact is, you CAN'T reproduce the same rifle for the $1600, never mind less.

Not to say your spec'd build won't perform, but it includes budget parts, and not the high-end stuff:

HSP vs Manners
EGW vs Nightforce
Accurate vs CDI

He also is selling the NightForce rings included.

Re: New to Snipers Hide

Whatever you say but both are performing very well at our matches even against high end guns.

Only thing different between mine and my sons Savages are his uses a CDI bottom metal and mine has an Accurate and we both like the Accurate metal better, like the extended mag well and the mag fits much better. EGW will work fine for most shooters but we went with Farrells and Seekins. They are still budget builds compared to a lot of guns but so far we haven't been outgunned at the matches.

I didn't post the info previously to start a spitting match about different guns other than to say he could build his own and have bragging rights for less and after honing his skills he'd not be undergunned at any match at least out to 1000 yards with decent equipment. They may not have the resale of a Remington or other brand but never considered it as a resale item anyway. Just a tool that does the job and upgrade as needed.

To the original poster, that gun is a decent deal... buy the thing and you'll be good to go and don't worry about what others say. No, you probably can't build the exact same gun with the same equipment you're getting for that price. I guess I should have clarified my first post a bit with saying you can build a similiar gun that will perform the same for a bit less and get a lot of satisfaction after a great day at a match with a gun you put together yourself. They are great guns, very accurate and you can smile every time you finish in the top 5 against the high end equipment.
