Re: FBI:california most gun laws have more gun crime
Don't forget Chicago and NY. In Illinois, it can be illegal to defend yourself in your own home, if I understand it right. You have to make an effort to get out of your own home and surrender it to the criminals; if they stop you then you can defend yourself.
Man, I love WA. No MG, SBS or SBR, but other than that, we have pretty lax gun laws. Not lax perse, but rather rational. If anything, in the last ten years we've rolled stuff back. We got suppressors last year, most notably. How about that for going foward? Here it is shall issue for carry permits, castle doctrine, and if you get your CC card now (the new ones) you no longer have to do background checks when you purchase a weapon. It pre-empts the wait period too, so none of that bullshit. You can draw your weapon to "stop a felony in progress". Doesn't say what kind of felony, so according to our law it means all felonies. Yeah, WA may be liberal, but not in the way you think.
I'd honestly be concerned about taking return fire here if I were to pull my piece out and start shooting in public. And the bigger the venue, the more concern. Hell, it already happened at the Tacoma Mall! Didn't turn out too well for the guy, but he tried! The infamous Hilltop shooting took place in Tacoma in the late 80's too. Army Rangers vs. gangbangers, the shit should be made into a movie. In both events, the cops just couldn't get their in time (and with Hilltop, they just turned around when they did get there).
In science, force goes the way of least resistance. Always. Science is modeled by math and so are societies, and they tend to follow similar rules. Least resistance is one of them. If you are looking to commit a crime, do it in the place with least resistance.
Malls, theatres, schools. And to those in the know, army bases like that one piece of shit Maj. (soon to be PV1) Hassan --they have all their arms locked up and nobody carries there either. Places with bad gun laws so the public won't be armed too. These are places of least resistance, no?
The answer is to simply take your safety into your own hands. Stop depending on others or the cops to show up and hero your ass outta there. They just don't get there fast enough.
We always knew the places with the strictest gun laws have the worst crime. These assholes think laws are made for criminals, but they actually only pertain to law abiding citizens. By virtue, criminals break the damn law! The laws were a kneejerk reaction to the crime, and like most kneejerk reactions, only made things worse.
