I know several people are using the 1-8 up to a 1-9 twist for the 180 Bergers but I was curious if anyone was having good luck with the specific combo of a Schneider barrel in a 1-9 using the 180's.

The reason I ask is my gunsmith is going to rebarrel my 300WM to a 7mm Mag using a 26" Schneider SR-60 profile barrel. He has a 1-9 twist in stock but if I want a 1-8 twist I will have to order it.

So I'm just curious how much luck people have had with this combo and did it require some major fine tuning of your loads to get accuracy?

Thanks for the help.

1/9" twist will work fine for the Berger 180's. Im going 1/9" for my current 7mag when I rebarrel to push 180 Berger Hybrids.

Same here. I get great results from 1:9 twist with the 180gr pills. The Bergers really put the 7mm mags into a whole new category.

Thanks for the info.

How many of you are running 8 twist for this load.

I called Schmeider and he suggested the 8. I also figure of the 195gr. VLD comes out I should be able to shoot it as well with the 8 twist where as the 9 would probably be pushing it.

If I order a barrel it should only be 6 weeks.

Thanks

I would go with what Gary suggest. He has been very good to get barrels shipped quickly anyway, so it will not set you back much in time in my expirence with him. Good luck with your project.
