Gunsmithing RED LOCTITE FIGHT-HELP

Re: RED LOCTITE FIGHT-HELP

Did they use Loc-Tite or Rocksett? If its locktite get a heat gun or propane torch and heat it up until you see a little white smoke then wrench it off. If its not loctite and it is rocksett, heat will do nothing to it. Give the brake a couple of good taps with a good non marring hammer to break the ceramic rocksett....then soak it in boiling water for about 10-15 minutes, try wrenching it off, if it still wont budge, soak it over night and try wrenching it off the next morning.

Re: RED LOCTITE FIGHT-HELP

If it is installed per Surefire instructions, then it is Rocksett. In the case of Rocksett it should come off with a wrench. If it is excessively stubborn you can soak it in water as the previous poster suggested.

Re: RED LOCTITE FIGHT-HELP

That rocksett is good stuff and it does take some effort to remove but it should come off with a wrench, use a good quality wrench, I have a wrench strip on me doing this once on a KAC FH.

Re: RED LOCTITE FIGHT-HELP

Well, I got ot squared. I think that it was Rocksett and it was a bitch to get off. I soaked it for about 10 hours in water then heated it up. With the help of a buddy and some colorful language it came off. Thanks for all you comments.
