Hello, I just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are on either a 9" or a 12.5" upper. I am about to pull the trigger on one and plan to shoot suppressed. I am wanting it to be as quiet as possible. Will the 12.5 be quieter than the 9" and if so by how much?

Please state facts and not opinions. I would like to make an informed purchase in the next few days.

Re: 300 AAC Blackout 9" or 12.5"

My choice has been the 9" when used primarily for subsonic use.
The additional barrel length does nothing for you other than provide higher velocities when running supersonic loads.
The extra barrel length does not improve accuracy at all.

If you plan on using primarily supersonic loads suppressed, I would go with the 12.5" inch upper.
The extra barrel length not only gives you better potential velocity, but also makes it much easier to tune supersonic loads.

Hope that helps you out.

Cheers,

Phil

The SR7 needs a lot more time so we are unannouncing it.

The 762-SDN-6 is the latest product and will be for a long time. Likely more than a year.

I have a 9.0 upper on my M-16 and I also have a 16.5 bolt gun.

If your main use is shooting subs, I would go with a 9.0 and pistol length gas. Once you find a good load, stick with it.

If you don't mind me asking....Why?

Development is not done yet. It never should have been announced until it was in stock and ready to sell. It is a long way off. The 762-SDN-6 is the latest product and will be for a long time.

About the same. I don't think you would notice the difference.

Re: 300 AAC Blackout 9" or 12.5"

Bigger issue is Making sure the bullet is stable. I wouldn't go less then 10.5". Anything less and your a risk for a baffle strike. I'm currently running a 12.5" at 975FPS. getting good hits out to 300yards. That's running a Noveske barrel, On a AR plat Form .

Re: 300 AAC Blackout 9" or 12.5"

I run a Noveske 8 incher with a SWR Trident 3 lug 9mm can, 220smks @ 1000fps no keyholing, shoots light out and is quieter and a shitload lighter then my 762-SD by a long shot. The 10.5 rule is for blast baffle erosion, not so much stabilization IMHO
