Re: multi-tool
I use Leatherman Tools and, with all politics aside, I think they're great tools with useful features. To date I've owned a PST, Super Tool, original Wave, Micro, two new version Waves, and a MUT. Out of all of those I've only broken one, first it was one of the small screwdrivers on my original wave when I was tried to use it to tighten a swivel stud. I kept it for a years, using the other tools until I broke the serated blade off opening a paint can. I sent it back to Leatherman for repair and it ended up getting it replaced with a new version Wave. The total time for me, being CONUS, was about 10 days including a weekend to get the new tool. Most of that time was shipping because it arrived on a Tuesday and when I called on Wednesday they said it was already on its way back to me.
I use my other Wave everyday at work for everything from tightening nuts to a using it as a door stop and so far no issues.
I've owned a couple of Gerber Multi-tools and they were more comfortable then the original Leatherman PST but the new designs pretty much make it a moot point. I also like how the Leahtermans are a one handed opening for the most of the blades and a couple other tools. I did break one Gerber, I'm not saying all Gerber's are a piece of shit because of that but I just prefer the Leatherman tools.
