How much noise reduction do you feel I'd get if I used my .30 cal suppressor on a 22-250? I realize it's not ideal but it should help reduce some of the report...but by how much?
The 22-250 is an upcoming build and will be threaded for a suppressor with the same 5/8 X 24 TPI. I realize I probably won't get optimal performance using my .308 suppressor but it still should be acceptable.
It will knock it down more then you think. It wont be Hollywood quiet but you would probably be comfortable enough to take a couple shots without ear pro. If I plan on shooting more then 3 shots at a time.... I put my ears back on. Even though you have a suppressor on the rifle, it can still damage your ears over time.
A good .30 cal can mounted on any lesser caliber will do better than most give them credit. In my experience the 22-250 performs better with a .30 can than a .22 can anyway...volume is more important than aperture size.
I shoot a 22-250 through my 30p-1 and it is stupid quiet for supersonic.
The only 22 caliber can that sounded quieter was a 22 can that had more than normal volume and baffles. (Specialty can).
I run my 22-250 through a 30P-1 and it tames it down significantly. Only time it is kind of loud is of you happen to be out past the muzzle and to the side, then you get a pretty sharp crack. From the shooters position it is very pleasant and I shoot all day with no ear protection and feel just fine. I would say it is comparable to a 22 mag or so. Also if you happen to be shooting around any structures, it will be a little louder as some of the sound bounces back at you.
What we've noticed shooting .243 and .260 (and similar rounds) through the 30P-1 and 30BA is that even when the powder charge is almost the same, the report is usually a quieter to the ear compared to .308
