Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

When I graduate HS I am going to ask for a GAP build in .308 that's around 18" to ride in my Bronco with me.

+1

Try to always keep the Edge 243 as it will take care of everything I shoot plus give me the LR over AR.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

yea, a gifted gap rifle.... yak! just a rem 223 or the ruger m77/17 17hmr. they ride 24/7 for years. coarse thats riding around in a ranch truck, two tracks and hard hits every single day. gap sits at home untill couple weeks before deer season then she rides so i can get her tuned up, well get me tuned up.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

Suppressed Savage 17HMR. Deals with anything in a 300 yard radiusand quietly too. Nice to dump critters and not have anyone know I'm doing it.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

Given my "upbringing", trucks, and Levers, are supposed to be together. It's a Winchester, Model 1886, in 45-70, with peep sights. With Hot load, It handles "anything", including an engine block. Trust me, it works. Very quick, to the sights, and VERY effective! I might go with a 308 semi, Like my M1A, if I was "expecting trouble".Those 20 rnd. clips, are nice.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

none,
get caught with a gun in the truck in MD. without a good reason and with out it being locked in some fashion with ammo in a separate part of the vehicle and they might haul you in.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

I have several. Rifles: a takedown ruger 10/22 or an old savage 22/410 combo, a jungle carbine, or my LMT M4. Handguns: silenced ruger 45/22, reeder 4 inch night hunter in 44mag, or sig229 tactical. Air rifle: weirauch hw97k. All varies depending on where I plan to go on any particular day. Always have a handgun. Jungle carbine rides the most in rifles

Ours is a youth .243 that i started out on. Just recently added a Leupy VX-R 3-9x40mm and loaded some 105gr Berger VlDs for it. Fun little rifle to shoot.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

Bushmaster AR15 A2 configuration (open sights, no optics). Compact, quick to handle, aim, shoot. No extras; the K.I.S.S. philosophy.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

10.5" LMT with T-1 on top and a NT4 on the end, only when Im on trips/away from town.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

An earlier poster mentioned he lived in an area where you had better have "good reason" for a gun in a vehicle. Not knocking him, but I am thankful I live where any reason is considered "good." Unless, of course, the popo have a working relationship with you.

I have either a Ruger GP 100 or a Glock 36 as constant companions and occasionally a centerfire bolt gun for diversity... it is our strength.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

SIG556... it's more for SD than hunting

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

A CavArms AR15a1, 16" and depending on the time of year a botl gun to go with it.

If someone steals the AR, I am only out about $700.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

That's a good thought, right there. 30 yrs ago, It was OK, here in SE Pa./ Delaware. We'de shoot, on the farm, all the time. Now, It's all built up. Let off a gun these days, in my area, and wait 5 minutes. Here come the local Law enforcement. Gun in the truck, on the rack, and you're gettin pulled over. Montana sounds nice, or maybe Texas. Don't know if I could stand the heat. But for that,I love visiting Texas. Drive for 2 hrs, and not see another car, or house, is nice. And when people see ya with a gun, and they don't freak out, kinda gives ya that "warm fuzzy feelin". That's my kind of "country"..<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: GUNNER75</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I'd move!

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

700 chambered in .221 Remington Fireball. Good enough for coyotes, rabbits, crows, or any other varmint in the desert.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

I've got a few that qualify. One is an older Mossberg 500, w/rifled slug barrel that loves the old Winchester Super X 2 3/4" slugs. It will one hole with them at 25 yards and the barrel has sights. I just wish the barrel was a bit shorter.

#2 is an 16" AR carbine in 5.56.

#3 is a Rem Model 7 in .300 Blackout. I would love to have this rifle in a Scout configuration.

#4 Ruger GP 100 in .357 Mag.

Any one of these will handle anything in the eastern woods to include these really big pigs we're seeing. Alabama has passed a law this year allowing bow and spear hunters to carry a sidearm for protection from the wild boar.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

I keep a Win 94 Trapper .357 Mag in the overhead gun rack. For some reason people don't seem to get nervous around lever action rifles. I'm sure that shit would hit the fan if I kept an AR or one of my tactical shotguns up there.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

From September through thanksgiving I'll keep the 338 in the truck, too- gotta be ready for the occasional long range woof opportunity.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

Until I can get back to the country, S&W Sigma 9mm. Cheap and effective. But mini14 ranch likes to ride too.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

I live in California.....can't have a gun/rifle in my vehicle unless I have a concealed carry for a pistol or going to/ coming from a rifle range.

But our weather is PERFECT!!!

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

Don't have a truck right now but the car gun is a .38 snub nose hammer less with +P 125 JHP residing inside!!!!

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

Alan H, That's a neat rifle!

My truck gun is a Bushmaster M4 clone w/ A2 carry handle sights. Small enough to swing it around in the truck, it's not pretty, has no glass, shoots pretty good out to ~300yds to bust somethings butt and holds enough ammo to aim-shoot-repeat several times.

Re: Whats your Truck Gun?

Where did you get that sling? I need one for a build.
