Changed scopes on my dad's 700BDL 30-06. I had 10 rounds of hand loads I worked up for it left to get it sited in with. This is all 10 at 100yds. Not too bad for an almost stock 700. It has a Timney trigger and I bedded it.

Great job on you're getting it sighted in and superb group. Aren't you supposed to start at 25 yards and work your way out to 100 yards when sighting in a gun?

Just kidding, there is another thread going about bore sighting and 100 yards.

looks like the gun is gonna be a shooter fer sure and seems the shooter is quite capable.

Thanks. I had bore sighted it before going. Luck counts on the first one being so close. I was just hoping to be on the paper.

Can you point me to that thread? I'd like to see what was discussed. I've had to start at 25 before with no bore sight but since I've had access to a bore sight over the last 30 years or so I've been doing it the same way.

Re: Had 10 rounds to site this rifle in with

Thanks. I just read through most of it.

Well, I guess I'm an idiot. But it works for me. And I also think some people over think and over work sighting a rifle in. It's pretty damn simple.

Good work Layton. That will drop any animal it's pointed at.

Nothing needed to have access to....its as simple as getting a stable rifle (bipod and bags work fine), pulling the bolt and lining up the bore with the target at 100 yards. then you adjust the scope reticle to the target (verify back and forth bt bore and reticle a couple times to make sure both are set) then fire a round and you should be on paper, use your reticle to measure the correction (ex, 1.7 mils up, 2.3 mils right) dail in the adjustments and fire a shot. you should be in the bull or very very close. fine tune and you are ready to go...

Don't see many people shooting like that at Carter's country !

Re: Had 10 rounds to site this rifle in with

Yep thanks. I read that thread. I was expecting some big revelation on how to sight a rifle in with 1 shot or something.
