Can someone that has a Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder tell me how far out you are ranging on non-reflective surfaces and also on reflective surfaces. Does it also range well in poor conditions? Any likes/dislikes about it?

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

I have the Sport 850 and I have ranged easily out to 600 on painted targets. Ive gotten to 780 a couple times on various surfaces.. Hit or miss at 800+

Im sure the Elite is much better, but I hope this input helps at least a little.

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

I've hit 1700 yards with my Elite, aiming at trees/dirt/stumps. Obviously, the further out you get, the harder it is to get a first shot reading. I haven't tried using it on a tripod yet, which would probably help.

Im gona call bullshit on that. Had them for the past 3 year's the farthest hit anyone in our section got was me at 1140 here in afghanistan. We use mk 7's now because they are spot on and give a 10 digit grid, For a civilian your wasting your money. For the guy that I quoted you do know what 1600 stands for right? You saying you got a hit over a mile while holding that P.O.S. in your hand is just embarrassing for you.

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

The guy asked, I'm telling.

Not saying that its repeatable...I've only hit 1700 once. I can get 1500-1600 readings regularly, with some patience. Again, a tripod would be a lot better than leaning against a tree stump.

Yes, I know what "1600" means.

I didn't say "over a mile", I said 1700 yards (1702 or 1703 if I remember right). I confirmed with Google Earth, and yes, it was over 1600.

We are talking about the same LRF, right?

my guess is u have the older 1500y, not the new 1600, the 2 are 100% totaly diffrent, i had the 1500, it sucked past 1100, and on hils, past 800

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

I have the Fusion 1600 and I range out to 1800 regularly. The farthest it's ranged for me was 1865 at a car dealership sign. For trees it can hit 1500 pretty easily. The back of the box is BS in the capabilities it quotes.

Im not sure the difference in the technologies between the Elite 1600 and the Fusion 1600.

I guess I will stand in line with the "embarassing" crowd. I have gotten REPEATABLE 1500+ yard returns off the sides of buildings.

So, I call bullshit on your bullshit.

Yep same here. Works pretty good on large objects such as buildings, large rocks, ect.. Have had some difficulty with smaller targets out past 1100 yards but have ranges a 36 inch square steel target at 1500. Took a few times but it got it. No tripod used but would probably help if i did.

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

1762 on trees in the rain for me is the furthest.
Normal conditions:
1500 is zero problem, hit immediately on trees, even a single leafless scraggly bastard I tried one day. I have hit trees to just over 1800, cant really recall ever having problems to 1700, the 1800+ took a couple seconds, they are overachievers.

As far as raw distance, add me to the list too. 1700+ on a regular basis on trees with the furthest nearly 1900. My issue is ranging smaller objects at closer ranges, but mine may either not be one of the better ones, or it may be a limitation based on capability. Will evaluate a different unit this weekend and see if it is consistent with mine. Also will have a Leica 1600B on hand, so it will be interesting to compare the two. The Leica has *significantly* less beam divergence.

I really like the fact that the Bushy just scans automatically, whereas the Leica has to have the button held down for 2.5 seconds to activate scan mode. The Leica has MUCH better glass and as a monocular is the better choice. The Bushy is more steady due to the flat as opposed to vertical design of the Leica. I'll post a more thorough comparison once I've had some time in the field with them.

I have to say someone put their foot in their mouth because I get 1500-1600 with my consistently and yes I have even gotten 1700+ on several occasions. Bend over here it comes again oh and 1700 yards ain't mile...

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

I have gotten consistent 1800+ readings on mountain side rocks and trees etc on several occasions with my Fusion 1600 binoculars.

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

I have a feeling the 1600 binoculars have better glass than the monocular. I'm getting the Fusion 1600 binocs. Bushnell is giving me a good "rebate" break on the price directly from them B/C my older Yardage Pro 1000 monocular bit the dust electronically.

Nice of them to do that. Another "offer you can't refuse" - only a good offer.

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

I can't make any great distance claims but I've had one for 2now years and it's had a rough life...never given me any trouble

Re: Bushnell Elite 1600 rangefinder

Just posted this in another thread:

I was out comparing the Leica to the Elite 1600 in bright daylight the other day and both could laze a business sign at 1594 yards instantly. The Elite then gave me a reading of 1525 yds. of a white metal roof that the Leica could not laze. Hmm... After a bit of playing I found that the Bushy was *actually* giving me a reading off of the wall below the roof. The Leica's beam is so small, that it could differentiate between the two. When I lazed the wall, I immediately got 1526 yds. from the Leica.

Food for thought.

Binos and monoculars at Rifles Only Pro Shop for $750 and $435 respectively.
I love my binos! 1830ish was the furthest hit I've gotten with them!
Scanning and the "Brush" mode are very nice features!
