Hey guys got a question. Since the wait time for form 4 is roughly 7 months, is there any suppressor that I could use on my hk USPc 9mm and also my Remington 700 AAC SD (308)?

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

While possible in theory, it really isn't practical.

First, you have to find a suppressor that threaded inserts that can be changed or use thread adaptors (700 SD uses 5/8x24 RH while the USP 9 uses M13.5 x 1 LH threads).

Then you have the fact you are hanging a giant 308 suppressor on the end of a handgun. Not only will it be unwieldly, but your USP will not cycle with a suppressor on it that does not have a LID/booster/nielson device on it.

Really the wait time shouldn't factor into a decision whether to get a 9mm or 308 can. Either you have enough money to buy both now, or just buy which ever one you think you will use more first and just buy the second one as funds allow.

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

You can use a pistol can on your 308 if you are ONLY shooting subsonic. I've shot my tirant 45 on 9mm and 308 subs. Very quiet but not the most accurate on the 308

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

I realize there is a differance in bullet diameter.i just figured I would get a 38 cal/ 9mm suppressor and use it on the remy. I also relise it Might not be as quiet on the 308 due to the bigger diameter of the suppressor. Just curious I guess if anyone has done this and appears people have. Thanks

someone correct me if i am wrong, but if he uses an 9mm pistol can on a rifle, wont the can be blown apart because of the pressure of the rifle gases?

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

A pistol can will be damaged if you shoot full power rifle ammo thru it. You can get by with shooting subsonic ammo8

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

You might want to look into the Liberty Mystic. It is a Multi-caliber supressor that you can shoot 9mm, subsonic 308 and many more. I dont have one, but maybe someone else on here does and could give you a little more info.

See anything different? </div></div>
9mm is actually .355", or were you referring to the bore diameter of a 9mm suppressor?

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

Subsonic .308 is a very low pressure round.

So that there is no misunderstanding here, leading to people blowing up their cans and themselves, lets be very clear here:

Aluminum cans are weak as hell. Some manufacturers walked away from aluminum envelopes decades ago when they did not perform in the field and had huge problems with corossion in some environments.

No rifle calibers through anything but the strongest steel, titanium pistol cartridge cans and only if recommended by the maker.

No rifle cartridges through poorly made pistol cans that are made out of steel if they are glued, compression fit or poorly tack welded.

Be safe.

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

I'd get two cans. Check out TSW in Cary, NC for a 9mm can, I've spoke with the owner Chad, straight up guy.

For a .30 cal can, Thunderbeast.....

Re: Supressor for 9mm hand gun and Remy 308

Check out the Huntertown Arms 762AK. It's a 30 cal suppressor, but the bore is apparently .380. The bore was made bigger to account for sloppy AK threads. It's good for 308, and will work on 9, but it'll be a heavy sumbitch. I'm considering one for my 300 BLK and light use on my 9mm pistol.
