I have my 8" Noveske upper on the way for an SBR build. Looking for recommendations for optics on it. I have looked at Eotech and am also thinking of the new Vortex 1X6 HD that is due out.

Let the flaming begin and thanks in advance!

Re: Scope recommendations for 300BLK

I will give you guys a call Chris, you and Jay did me right on my NF a couple of months ago.

Re: Scope recommendations for 300BLK

aimpoint T1 or a 1-4 something, but as light and compact as possible on an SBR.

Re: Scope recommendations for 300BLK

I just put a Vortex 1-4 PST on mine and think it works out pretty well.

Do you know what the data is for the barrel length, barrel twist, and which loads they are using? I can't find any information about what exactly their BDC is tuned for.

Re: Scope recommendations for 300BLK

Burris TAC30 1-4x24 works very well for me. With supersonic loads out of my 9" barrel, the BDC reticle puts me on at 100, 200, 250, 300, and 350. The illumination is daylight visible if that matters to you. Would I rather have a FFP 1-6x? Of course! But for the money, the TAC30 does all I need.

How about the Trijicon accupoint 1.25x4? I have 1 on a 375 H&H and like it very much. It works for shots on game on yardages from 10 to 350+ and the illuminated reticle is good in both low and daylight applications.

I don't I'm sorry. I'm curious to see the data myself.

Re: Scope recommendations for 300BLK

First, if this is your first SBR, be aware that an 8" barrel will be loud. LOUD!

I've owned 300s from 8" up to 16", I liked the portability of the 8, but even with a suppressor it was far from quiet. My best reload is 8gr of lil gun over a 208 Amax, just FYI. It cycled the action, but barely.

On the scope, I'll diverge from the group and recommend something like the IOR 2.5-10 FFP, my reticle had 15 mils of drop on the reticle (which is nice, since dope change from 100 yard zero to 200 yard shot was over 7 mils.) If it will be a strictly close-range (100 yards and in) gun, go with a red dot. If it will be used on pigs or other tasks requiring a certain degree of precision, I'd opt for something with some magnification and good bullet drop on the reticle.

Will this gun be run suppressed or "rude"?

Re: Scope recommendations for 300BLK

It will be canned without a doubt. I have ordered some of the Southwest Ammo group buy in subsonic to try through her first. Muchos grassy-ass for the heads up and suggestions on loads and scopes.

I will use the gun for hogs and general shooting. One reason I have looked at adjustable mag optics is to have the option of bullet drop on the reticle. I need to get some info on the Leopold mentioned above as well.

Damn good recommendations as always on the hide!

Re: Scope recommendations for 300BLK

I read that it was made with help from AAC. I also read that with the 220grn subs that the BDC worked perfect. This makes total sense to me because that round was the first sub round AAC promoted. The post I read said he zeroed using 125grn match at 100yds. 125 grn match and 110grn vmax worked with the BDC and 220grn subs worked for the sub side. I would imagine its based on 220grn Remington subs and 123grn full power.

Oh, that was with a noveske 16"
