Hey guys,

I am looking at building an ar with a polished stainless barrel. It is an 18" barrel and I'll be running a 13.8" quad rail, so not much of the barrel will be showing. Basically I want an easy and cheap way to get the barrel to a matte black finish to make it match the rifle.

I have a cerakote oven so if it is a bake on finish, no big deal.

I have looked at options like matte black alumahyde or something similar but I have no experience with that product.

Also, what kind of prep is required on a polish finished barrel?

Basically less work is better, but I don't want a finish that is just gonna look like crap and flake off.

Thanks for your help in advance.

you need to prep the barrel (degrease, plug both ends and gas port) blast barrel (aluminum oxide media works best for cerakote) paint and oven it, clean it up, oil it down then reinstall
