I was going to take the wife to see "Rise of the Dark Knight" at chain theater named Malco. They had an armed guard checking women's purses before entering. Not for weapons....but for concealed candy or bottled water.

WTF is the world coming to. There is no way an idiot armed security guard with a gold tooth displayed is going to search my wife's purse with me standing there. We asked for a refund and left.

I refuse to be treated like this and paying to do so.

Re: Searched at the theater-Hell no

Can't blame you. Did you express your concern with the theater management so they understand why they are loosing your business?

Re: Searched at the theater-Hell no

I wouldn't put up with that either. Let the theatres go out of business.

Re: Searched at the theater-Hell no

Was he reaching inside the purses or simply looking inside?

Re: Searched at the theater-Hell no

Those searches crack me up! It's just a show, like the sticker on the window of a gun and knife with a line through it...Imagine the rubes who see that and take comfort in it!

Re: Searched at the theater-Hell no

I'm a douche for making a crass and tasteless statement.

My wife and I went to see this move a couple days after the shooting. It was also a Malco and had several LEOs in the lobby. They had a sign posted that all bags would be subject to search or seizure. As I'm not going anywhere unarmed, we went on in. After one officer asked if he could search my Versapack,to which I refused he waved us on and continued to tell a group of teens how the shooter "should" have done it.

Were they actual LEO's or security guards? And if they were LEO's they can't legally just seize something unless you've broken the law and carrying concealed with proper permits is not against the law even if posted. It simply means they can ask you to leave the property. If they're security all they can do is ask to look inside, they can't actually reach in the bag and they sure as fuck can't seize anything.

I share your sentiments. I get better picture and sound quality at home. No sticky seats, no whining kids, I can pause when I want to and it costs less.

Theater security guard, probably the only person in the world sucking hind tit to a mall cop....fhl

Re: Searched at the theater-Hell no

Actually they were local city officers, our local mall also uses city officers for security.

Re: Searched at the theater-Hell no

The movie theaters around here have been doing that for as long as I can remember, Crazy thing about it to me is, the only search women's purses. You can pack anything you want in a pocket.
