Looking through the variations of reticles that NF put on their scopes, is there one that offers significant benefits over the others. I know its what ever you are use to, but since I'm just starting off, learning one over the other isn't going to be that much difference. Presently I'm working with MOA and being new its still a work in progress.

Take a look at the MOAR reticle, it is a nice all purpose reticle. It is a little thicker than their other MOA reticles, but not too thick. It is easy to pick up against darker backgrounds.

Each of the various NF reticles has its advantages/disadvantages depending on what the end user needs/wants to do with the scope. Knowing WHAT SPECIFICALLY you are planning on doing with the scope would help in getting you looking in the right direction and narrowing your selection.

Whatever you get, just make sure that the reticle matches the turrets. You just don't want an MOA reticle with mil turrets. I prefer MOA and run an NP-R1 reticle.
It does the trick for me. It's fine enough for precision shooting and I've never had trouble picking it up.

I liked the original MLR, but I went with the MD2 on my newest scope. I like simple reticles. I can range with if I choose to- which is rare, mostly for fun. The new MLR2 was too busy for my taste.
If I ranged regularly maybe my decision would be different.
I don't know about MOA Reticles. I prefer MILS.

The one thing I noticed is some of the high end scopes are only available in MOA or MRAD. Looking at the HORUS type reticules seems like something more fit for hold overs as opposed to adjustable turrets.

I use MOA so went with the MOAR on my last scope. It's very nice.

I'm mil/mil guy, so I'd say MLR. But I agree with TonyAngel that whatever you get--make sure your reticle matches your turrets.

As folks have said above, make sure the reticle matches the adjustments. I have had an NXS with the MLR reticle, but have recently moved over to an F1 with a mil-dot. The MLR was great on the 5.5-22 SFP, but I like the Mil-dot on the 3.5-15 ffp.

On the lower power NXS scopes I like the FC-2. On the higher scopes the NP-R1.

I'm hardly an expert but I like the mil/mil too. I thought I was pretty good wrapping my head around the old mildots in the reticle and moa in the knobs that both my 80's/90's vintage leupolds had. hell I even ordered my US Optics like that. Guess where the US Optics moa knob a mildot reticle sits, on a shelf in the safe not even mounted to a rifle. Not a damn thing wrong with it but why fight the easy button.

+1 on the MLR, just go Mil/Mil and MLR and get it over with. If you go FFP then MLR2.

Thanks all. With my 1st real scope being MOA, I figured given I'm already comfortable with that system it made since to stay with the same. I have a NXS 5.5-22x56 with a NP-R1 reticle on its way. I started out with a $400 budget, now I'm a little bit past it.
Hopefully it won't be a large mistake.

NF was out of my budget, but a bought it anyways and I'm glad I did. I had 15 months of no interest on a credit card, so why not break it in?
