I've been slowly reading more and more about precision shooting, but mostly dragging my feet, lack of funds, time, etc. Now that I'm trying to go to some entry level courses, I really need to get off my butt and pick up a rifle. Now my question is, will it be more affordable to pick up a new Remington 700, and slowly build on it, starting with basics like stock, bedding, trigger, etc? Or would I be better off buying one that is already fairly well set up, but may have several hundred rounds through it? My concern with starting from scratch is that I don't know of any local 'smiths to do my work, so I would be spending quite a bit on shipping back and forth, not to mention the wait time. Thanks for any suggestions.
