On most bolt gun designs, the bolt face is fixed to the bolt body.
The reason that you lap the bolt face on bolt guns is to get the bolt face perpendicular to the bore of the receiver.
Savage have floating bolt heads.
We assume that the bolt face is parallel to the lugs on the bolt head.
There is really no need to lap a savage bolt face as the head of the bolt floats to the lugs.
So, as long as the lugs in the receiver are square, the bolt face SHOULD be square.
However, if the LUGS are crooked, then the bolt face will also be crooked.
Now, you can't lap the LUGS on a savage with a floating bolt head to correct a non-square condition as the floating bolt head would just float to match the lugs.
You can machine the lugs square in a lathe.
