And I love it..

I got 100rnds of FMJ ammo to run thru it this weekend...This is the first firearm i've bought in a LONG time...

I wanted a pocket pistol and it took me forever to decide on which one I wanted....I got it brand new from Palmetto St Armory and a local FFL was a dream to deal with.

... your local dealer was a dream? WTH is up with you?

On a serious note, have you tried shooting any other comparable guns? I got a BG380 for the GF but neither of us could stand the ridiculously long and heavy trigger. Went and got an Ruger LC9 instead.

If they cut the trigger down to a 1/3 of what it is, it'd be a great CCW.

Re: Got my new S&W Bodyguard 380 yesterday...

The trigger has a long pull yes....but since I havn't run 100rnds thru it yet, I dont want to say I dont like it..

I did alot of shopping for a CCW pistol since deciding that my 38 Super 1911 was too bulky/heavy and wanted a pocket pistol.

I checked out the LCP, LC9, Judge, M&P 40, and several others, but when it came down to size/weight/price and COO (USofA preferred), the S&W was my choice....

about the FFL...i've had nothing but bad experiences till finding the most recent one...most we're way too arrogant and had bad things to say about every firearm that they didnt have under the glass for sale...

It's all in the feel to the end-user. I looked at the LCP, but it didn't quite do it for me. PPK and P230 bit the web of my hand HARD!!! Then the BG380 comes out. I LOVE mine for when clothing/circumstances don't allow a .45. I have about 650 rds through mine, absolutely trouble free!

I looked at the P238, but I don't care for it as much. NICE pistol, shoots really nice and has useful sights. I just don't care for it as a CCW pistol.

So, in the end, if it works for you, it shoots well, you feel confident carrying it, then it is the right pistol!

**BE WARNED** the fastener for the battery compartment of the laser has been known to work itself loose and jam the slide!! keep an eye on the fastener working itself loose or just remove batteries and cover - whichever suits your needs. This has not happened to me, but happened to one of my co-workers during practice.

Re: Got my new S&W Bodyguard 380 yesterday...

My wife had a bodyguard as her carry piece for a while. I thought it was alright, but the trigger pull was a bit too long and too heavy. I did not like the LCP for the same reason. The wife is a competition shooter and a firearms instructor so she is used to guns, and she hated the trigger. Given, it is not anything like the 2.5 pound trigger on her competition gun. But she got rid of it and got a P238 which both of us love. She is a bit more used to the SA only style than I am because of her 2011. Based only on dry firing I think I prefer the PF-9. I've got a P-11 on order, so I'll post impressions on that once i get to play around with it.

I checked those out. the trigger was sooo long. Ended up getting the Kahr P380 instead, which ended up being a colossal piece of shit

I think the smith is a great gun for the money. My good bud, had some feeding issues with his and brought it to me to look at. He had kept the loaded for a few months without firing the gun. Spring compressed and caused feeding issues. Just keep that in mind. Not sure if all the mags are this way or not.

Re: Got my new S&W Bodyguard 380 yesterday...

I went and got 100rnds of FMJ ammo to run thru it this weekend.

Here's why I bought it:

No Exposed Hammer
Sub 400$'s
Met my Size/Weight I was looking for
Made in USofA
Not a Taurus
Has a Safety
Fits good in my hand for a pocket pistol (LCP didn't)

Those were my criteria for a pocket pistol....hence why I got the S&W

I was playing around with a Sig Full Size 1911 .22lr and I'm thinking I may go buy one of those next for a practice/cheap to shoot pistol.

Re: Got my new S&W Bodyguard 380 yesterday...

BG380 is a nice gun. To me, it has the best ergos of anything in its class.
I have rather large fingers and the shape of the trigger on the LCP really bites my trigger finger. Yes, the BG380 trigger pull is longer. The design is IMHO, revolver-like, in that the pistol does not have to be recocked by slide movement before the trigger can be pulled again.

Re: Got my new S&W Bodyguard 380 yesterday...

cool little pocket pistol, for the money they are reliable, lightweight and pretty handy and defenitely better than nothing.
congrats on your purchase.

Re: Got my new S&W Bodyguard 380 yesterday...

150 rnds thru it at the range today...only 1 mis-fire and that was because the primer didn't fire..

In examining the casings, the primer hit doesnt look like what I'm used to seeing (my 1911 will leave a big indention)..does anyone have any pictures of casings from their bodyguards?
