Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Damn your good!

If you get a song dog with yours before I do, I will bow down to your sir!

Mine is supposed to arrive via brown truck tomorrow so I will try to take some pics and video of the Torch Pro and the DBAL-D2 in action if weather permits this weekend.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Got mine today also. Took it out back and checked it out with the pvs14. It is very nice, looks to be very well made and the fit and finish look great. I think TNVC hit a homerun on this one.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Can you guys put some pics up when you can? I was looking at this but I already have a PEQ-2 and not sure if I need one of these or not.

Just got mine off the UPS truck, am going to take it out tonight and see just how well it works. If it works anything like the IR Illuminator on the DBAL-D2 it will be a winner.

First off, it is NOT made in China, it is made in Germany and the engineering of the body and aspheric lens extrudes quality.

It came with two high quality SureFire CR123 Li-Ion batteries ( haven't tried it yet but the tube looks too small in diameter for an 18650 Li-Ion {18mm diameter and 650mm long}.

It has a 1 inch diameter body for normal 1" flashlight rail attachment.

I'll take some NV photos of it this weekend.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

I've also received my Torch Pro. What a class act!

Beautiful glass and milspec anodized body with smooth operation to
boot. Nice mount to hold it where it belongs.

Soon as the Dew point gets reasonable I'll check it out.

Nice job TNVC, Thanks.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

This thing is real nice and has a real long 10 hour run time on one set of CR123s, anybody using a high power 4X-6X NV scope is simply going to love it!

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Thanks for the kind words guys. We're especially appreciative of the patience on this one. It took awhile, but it had to be good, very good for the initial release.

As mentioned in the initial post announcing this product, this is just the beginning of some amazing products coming your way from TNVC.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Okay, last night was more of a friendly beer drinking meteor shower watching Night Vision fest than it was a video photo documentary of the Torch Pro IR light, but here is a two minute 25MB WMV video of the Torch Pro IR and the LDI DBAL-D2 IR Illuminator.

http://www.phossil.com/thom/Night%20Vision/Torch%20Pro/Pro%20Torch%20IR%20320.wmv

As you can see in the vid, the DBAL-D2 IR 0.7mW laser and IR Illuminator are pretty much a perfect precise NV match-up and work perfect together at distances way beyond what I will ever be shooting at night.

The Torch Pro IR matched up to my DBAL-I2 is also a super strong IR setup that goes out past 800 yards easily together and at my maximum night shooting range that I limit myself to of about 225 yards, is absolutely right on.

We took the Torch Pro out in the horse pasture while we were spotting meteors and it will easily go past 1/2 mile, it is any extremely powerful adjustable focus IR Illuminator.

The thing is with either of these IR Illuminators, you will need a magnified NV Optic to take full advantage of the power they emit.

Using a helmet mounted PVS-14 without magnifier, both the Torch Pro and the DBAL-D2 IR Illuminators totally cover everything you would ever need out to 100 yards. Adding a USGI 3X magnifier to the PVS-14 increases shooting range out to about 250 yards.

I do not have an NV dedicated scope setup, but from what I am seeing, a D-740 or D-760 scope would be heaven with the TNVC Torch Pro enabling anyone to make maximum long range use of their rifle NV scope combination...

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

It's my understanding that the Torch PRO can also make the beam wider/narrower like what was demonstrated with the DBAL in that video?

Thanks for posting the vid btw.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Yes, you are correct.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that it does NOT washout the ground in front of you either, a big plus!

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

The crummy video I did was on a totally moonless star light night, very dark, you can hear the frogs and crickets croaking and chirping in the background.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

I got mine today and just went out to test her out.
Yes it is great quality, and bright, BUT, I have a few questions those that have them
1. Does your on/off tail cap turn SUPER easy? I looked and it has an O-ring in it, but you just barely bump it and it moves.
2. Does your have a halo around the main spot? Mine is bright, then has a dark ring, then the main spot - in any adjusted position. Compared to my M1 that has no halo ring around the spot. That is a little annoying.
Interest to hear from those that have them to see if these are just inherent characteristics.

I do like the size VS. brightness. MUCH easier than packing my Hellfighter around if I'm not near the truck.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Everything your seeing is normal. In regards to the cap, just like a SF G2, to avoid accidental turn on, unscrew the cap several revolutions until you disengage the momentary on by pressing the tailcap. We wanted the tailcap very easy to manipulate, but simply unsrew it far enough where momentary on is not engaged.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

OK, thanks.
My pattern looks different than your pictures so I thought I would check.
Tailcap, I'll take care of that.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

For those who have no need for the Torch Pro stock body housing and wish to place the head on a selected Surefire G2, 6P etc. housing they currently own...The Torch Pro head only option will be available next week on our web site.

Price will be $199.00. Thank you for all the orders thus far, the unit has been very well received.

Re: Just got my Torch Pro IR

Just got my Torch Pro last week. Great product. I was easily getting usable light out past 250 yards. The terrain prevented me from testing at any greater distances. Easy to adjust the beam with one hand. Controls are silent. Does not wash out the ground in front of you. Easy to focus beam on the fly to look into dark corners. Great performance from an IR LED.
