I saw a story on the news today about a guy running across the US for veterans organizations, specifically Bullets2Bandages and the Travis Manion Foundation. It was a pretty interesting story. I guess the guy got sick of law school, wanted to give something back to America's veterans, and decided he'd partner with a couple veterans' organizations to try to raise money for them... by running from one coast to the other. As insane as it sounds, I sure as hell appreciate the effort. The guy is supposed to be finishing up in DC around Aug 18 at Arlington National Cemetery. Cool story if nothing else. Kinda like those videos of people who are in first place in some marathon and then fall at the last second and lose. But maybe I've been watching too much jackass, who knows.

Maybe this is a generational thing where the respect is diluted down to the level of MTV's jackass....I dunno....never had much use for that mentality myself, so again, the connection is lost on me.
