    Hello,

I'm interested to get into night vision. I am, however, completely ignorant of what is available on the market. I really don't have much of a reference, other than some banged up Gen2 PVS 14's, and I shot twice with 17C's in Infantry training. Ever since then I've been looking pretty in security forces in Washington (excellent use of infantrymen, right?).

I would be very appreciative if anyone could point me in the right direction. I am not a fan of the monocular/laser set-up, and would prefer to have the optic weapon-mounted. I may get a head-set later on if I find I really like creeping around at night.

I'd prefer to keep this under $2000, but I can stretch some.

What weapon sight in the $1500-2000 price range will give me the best clarity and resolution? I'd like to be able to get coyotes at 150-200yd if it's possible. I'm not against getting an external IR illuminator, either.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, for your budget I HIGHLY recommend the M845. http://tnvc.com/shop/m845-mk-4-2-5x-gen2-shp-red-dot-sight/
At 2.5x and the resolution, Yote kills at 125 yards and in being conservative.

It's truly the best bang for your resolution $$$ vs. a full up Gen 3 system. Call us if you need any assistance, we sell a great deal of these scopes for limited budgets and specific range requirements.

Thanks Victor. After our call today I'm pretty sure that's what I'll go with. I have a move coming up soon and I'm trying to get a new vehicle sometime, so once those are sorted out and I'm sure no unexpected expenses will come up I'll likely get back with you.

    New question. IR illuminators.

    1) The Torch PRO, to me it seems like a good compliment for the m845, but I'm wondering if it would be overkill? Too bright and I should look at something else?

    2) IR filters for visible light flashlights, specifically the Surefire G2L (LED). From what I've seen, and I may be totally wrong, most LED's don't emit much on the spectrum beyond 700nm, so such a filter is pretty useless for me? If I am wrong, is it worth $80 or should I stick with IR-LED lights?

Torch Pro would not be overkill at all on the M845, it's still a Gen 2SHP. The adjustable beam on the Torch Pro will work very well.

You're absolutely correct on Q2, IR filters useless on LED's and even with an incandescent, using an IR filter loses over 85% of the ambient light itself.

    Re: NV weapon sight

Well, I finished sorting everything out this weekend and went ahead and submitted my order this morning for the M845 and torch pro. I'm anxious to get it and see what can be seen

    Re: NV weapon sight

I just got the m845 today and it definitely met and exceeded my expectations. I only got to play with it a little tonight but I'm confident I can smoke a yote within 200yd with the m845/torch pro combo.

I was impressed with how far away I could clearly see. 300-400yd+. Granted its a sort of an urban area, but again, with the torch pro, 200 shouldnt be a problem in the NV desert.

Glad the gear is performing to your expectations. Thank you again for the order, happy hunting!
