By chance I called Cooper Arms regarding a technical question this afternoon and ended up getting into a long conversation with one of their tech guys. He proceeded to inform me that any customer who is the original owner of any of their rifles could have them re-barreled for $125.00 total cost. <span style="font-weight: bold">Yes, $125.00 total</span>. The only stipulation being that it has to be a standard offering within a specific model number. (308 to 6br etc) I had no idea that Cooper did this and wanted to put this out there. The rifle will be shipped back to you with a new test target as well.

Re: Cooper Arms customer service

That's good to know. I have a 52 I'm pretty fond of and have worried about what to do when the groups start opening up. I know the chance of shooting out the barrel is pretty slim but now I'll take to the range more. Thanks.

Re: Cooper Arms customer service

Just curious - does anyone know what company supplies Cooper with their barrels? I am a long admirer of their rifles.

Re: Cooper Arms customer service

I met Dan Cooper once, I live in the Akron Ohio area, when he moved part of his operation down the street in Canton Ohio. He is a weird Bird is all I can say. There guns are top notch... I had a 17 hebee. Cool little gun.

Figures. I'm the second owner of mine. Did they happen to say how much it would cost to have it rebarreled if you weren't the original owner?

Re: Cooper Arms customer service

Lakeway, he did not say what the cost would be if you were not the original owner. Have you been shooting your 260 TRG much?

I haven't had it out in the last few weeks, but I was shooting it pretty regularly before that. I have about 600 rounds through it now and still loving it. I picked up a new F-class rifle and have been working with that lately.

How about you? Been working your TRG out much?

Re: Cooper Arms customer service

My round count is at 230. I've shot it very little, however this coming Sunday I'm going to shoot it in an F-class event. I've been using 142 gr SMK's and I want to try the 139 gr scenars to see how they perform.

I was using mine in f-class with 139 scenars and doing pretty well with it. Then I bought a Savage model 12 f-class rifle in 6mm BR and my scores went up 10 points. First time out with it I shot a 590-21x with an untested load.

I'm not sure why. My TRG is actually seems to be more accurate. Probably better ergonomics for prone shooting off bags and the fact it has a lighter trigger.

Anyway, good luck and let me know how you do.

I did poorly today. My first string of 20 I scored 190 with 9 X's. I was happy with that. Then I fell apart; after my second string of 20, my total score ended up being 376 with 10 X's total. It was cooler & overcast during the first string and hot & very sunny for the 2nd string. Note to self: next time I'm going to use my benchrest instead of the bipod and I'm going to get a snap cap and spend time practicing my prone technique.

Yea, f-class is harder than it looks. I don't remember prone position being so uncomfortable when I was a teenager hunting ground hogs. Used to lie on the ground for hours without an issue. Not any more.

Were you shooting 600 yd or 1000? Either way, having the right equipment makes a big difference.
