3 x 600 yard shoot at pendleton sunday august 26, 2012

There will be a 600 yard match at Pendleton Sunday August 26, 2012 sponsored and hosted by the Santa Margarita gun club. No need to shoot at metal targets...shoot at the best range in SoCal, get your score, and enjoy a day among your fellow accuracy aficionados.

The target is pulled after each and every shot, marked with a scoring disc, and scored.

There is unlimited sighters the first 30 minute leg, its a 3 leg x 20 shot for record match. Very rarely do most shooters get to zero in at 600 yards and plug away for 60 shots in Socal...

Avoid the crowds at the local range and come out and shoot with us!

There will be service rifles, match rifles, space guns, modified AR's, F class rifles, etc.

PM me with questions and we hope to see you there.

Please watch the following video if you plan on attending. Pit duty is required, and you have to be somewhat quick about it to help your squad members get off their shots in a timely manner.

308 can be as light as 155 grain. . I'm not sure about Palma ammo availability. If you can buy 168 g smk ammo that will work.

77 grain is preferred for 223, although I'm going to try out some nosler 80 grain in my AR.

600 yards is really not a long shot, but use the ammo which shoots the tightest groups in your gun.

I have a case and a fourth of 168 SMK FGMM clones coming from southwest ammo for it, and I have been running the actual FGMM for a while. The SW is just cheaper. I'm trying to find another load for 1000 for my .308 PSS, but the only thing I've found my rifle likes that I'm told should work are the 168 AMAXes. Others have told me, while being a 168, the BC is high enough that at 2700 FPS they're supersonic to 1100 yards, which matches what JBM is telling me, but at I think 5000 density altitude, so I don't know if they'll work, and I'd hate to end up buying ammo not safe for that range. It wasn't a big fan of 175 SMKs or 155 Lapua Scenars.

168's work fine at 600 yards

What makes the SW ammo a clone? FGMM uses a top secret blend of their own powders?

MicronuT and I just registered last night. We're rusty and we're not going to win against dedicated F-T/R rifles and shooters but it'll be fun nonetheless. Neither of us have ever been to Camp Pendleton, so I'm going to take you up on your PM invitation and PM you with some questions. TIA.

The F-T/R shooters at Camp Pendleton SMGC matches are a fairly evenly matched crowd and the wind will be the real competition. I think anyone that shows up has a great chance to win in F-T/R and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results. In any event, as you mentioned above it will be fun and I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow SH members in person. See you at the match.
