The newslady said she wasn't going to run the story but I saw that they had the cameras out. I had waited for that parking spot for nearly 5 minutes with my blinker on and there was no way I was going to let that woman just pull right into it. Then she did. So, I waited till she got out of her car and I did a single leg takedown. From there, the guillotine was pretty easy and I held it until she agreed to apologize and move her car. Of course, someone saw it and called the police....I was glad they didn't arrest me.

You need to run a bigger "steel horn", of course it may look rather silly on your 88 Hyundai. 35's and a steep approach angle will allow you to intimidate most "road warriors" especially if you are cranking Crue "Live Wire" followed by a choice selection of Wagner.

I appreciate a good wiseass and the infantry trains the best; nonetheless, I am proud to say that I had no minorities in my unit, our color was green. So many names and adjectives are being used as of late, that I am beginning to think there may be some truth to what they are saying in the media. Take me, for instance, I tend to think deep down that if you don't own a rifle, that you are kind of, hmmm, I don’t know – different maybe; and that Aries are the strongest and smartest of the zodiac sign holders; and that people that have first names that begin with "A" are at the head of the class; Virginians are best by far (this is NOT to say, Mess With Texas); no other service can compare to the Corps; that people that prefer bacon over all other foods really "gets it;" that if you do not own the Last of the Mohicans DVD, well, you might wonder if you are partly a squaw; that brown-eyed girls are irresistible, the list goes on and on…with some of the biases are deeper than others. I like the country better than the city, and listen to David Allan Coe but would not spend a once-copper penny on the highly anticipated solo effort: Big Boi - 'Sir Luscious Left Foot', which is due out next month, for those of you that like to hear people say poems with strong wording, accompanied by a heavy beat... I try to make a stand against pornography but sometimes find myself having to look at some of it for about an hour or so to determine if it is bad for people as I have been told that it is. I buy American, unless the item was made in China (which accounts for many of these so-called items). Heck, the more that I consider it I tend to lean this way or that way on any given issue, based on my biases and perspective, which is nothing more than the clarity and perfection that the lenses I see through were grounded. And so, whenever I hear or see something that hints of the “R” word I try to offer something in return. If he had gone on to earn millions and speak out as the expert in all things race relational in old age, I might not have cared so much. Instead, he died before he could play in the NFL, at 23. I don’t even know how to write about how this made his plight so clear, and so wrong. I felt that Kanye West’s act was “R” word involving. I felt the Williams girl was treated harshly, as compared to, say, John McEnroe. And everyday the media is telling me that there is this “new thing” when much older and wiser people tells us there is no new thing under the sun. People do tend to lean on the things they know. Sadly, great speakers have hoped for a day when all people, and issues, would be judged on their merit; instead, we are moving farther and farther away…cheat sheets, walk-thrus, do-overs, bail-outs, bonus points, crap. Within the black community, there is an effort to specify whether one is African-American or African-African when applying to Ivy League schools, since some of the fairness in getting equal representation in freshman classes just asks to list one, and African-Americans are being kept out because African-Africans are getting better scores and the computers are having a hard time using the knowledge that is programmed or available because suddenly and inexplicably there are two Africas with no logic or reason to support it. Even reduced to any two people, there is a tendency to categorize. <span style="font-style: italic">I am glad my wife doesn’t look like that. Damn those are some ugly kids. I am not going to say a word about that giant green booger on the end of his nose - let him be laughed at. I would not live here. His rifle looks like a safe queen. This guy is my friend but look at his ears -freakin' gigantor! He could be the radar guy for 3d world countries. I have 1,000 more posts than you do buster.</span> Maybe these are ordinary or part of Darwinian competition or maybe they are ok because we keep them to ourselves. I don’t know. I do know that we have been taught to see some pure bullshit and remark about the specialness of the “emperor’s new robe.”, or be quiet. My bloodline has a gene that makes us especially resistant to this, but I have learned to wait and think twice before speaking.
I guess my point is this: if you volunteered to serve your country in the U.S. Armed Forces you are very much part of the minority.

New diseases Hairy Cell leukemia, Parkinson's, and Ischemic Heart Disease added to list of disorders considered presumptive for VA Compensation and care resulting from Herbicide exposure according to Gen. Shinseki's letter of Oct 13, 2009..
For me, this means my claim for heart disease which has been refused repeatedly is now eligible for presumptive VA benefits.

I was younger once. Gonna live forever. No health problems. Now retired vet. Wait till you get older. Back problems, feet problems, ringing in the ears. Talk to your local county VA Rep if you have one. There are benefits out there that you have earned.

Join the VFW, and have them represent you in all VA claims. Helps grease the skids.
Greg: Be cautious of jumping into care for your heart with the VA, only because if this is a newly authorized disease set, then it will take a while to run up qualified MD's who can do Angios, and caths, etc.
They are so short handed in Oregon, for instance, that most specialty care is done in Portland, necessitating a cross state trip for many of us, who live in the hinterlands.
You want someone who has done 50-100 of any procedure, and is GOOD at it, before doing anything invasive.

Filed my claims this week, from hearing from all the oder generations I think I made the right call, some of it seems like little stuff but its not going to get any better might as well get the ball rolling. VFW was extreamly helpfull
Filed my claims this week, from hearing from all the oder generations I think I made the right call, some of it seems like little stuff but its not going to get any better might as well get the ball rolling. VFW was extreamly helpfull

(That smokin hot Doc told me to hit you up) I went to look at a few of those links and they send me to a search page. Entering the 4 Digit number and using the title gets me jack(which I have from the VA so far).
I have a local VFW guy(retarded USAF 1SG, smokes cigars, rides a HD...) working my case. Got here, found out Nashville had stuff AFU, went to see him and BAM! Appointments two days later. C&P appointment, get a letter in the mail a couple weeks ago for some minor stuff to fill out and send in, get another letter, call and toss the new paper. Awaiting FInal Decision on C&P.

I am waiting now for an update to the links. My advice, although not timely, is to use the VFW guy if he seems to have his head on straight and if he can add haste. It really can make a difference. I seldom visit the VFW despite being a Life Member, but you can make some good friends at most. Where I live, there are two Posts and nearly 200 people that were Marine snipers in RVN, before receiving a battlefield commission into the Special Forces. One guy told me that he has a different picture that no one else had ever seen before which he took himself when the guys from his unit raised the flag on Mt. Starapache on Iwo. He was in his mid-50's. How do you respond to something like that? I almost expected him to seriously whip out an old polaroid of Bob Denver and the Skipper, and expect me to believe his story.

Well, my claim for Agent Orange Related Ischemic Heart Disease has advanced to the point that I had my C&P medical evaluation yesterday.
The PA who did the workup was very thorough and supportive. I supplied copies of specific documents where my Agent Orange certification, Ischemic Heart Disease diagnosis, and a summary of the medical events and diminished capacity issues were spelled out plain and simple. We discussed the economic issues that occurred prior to the finding that this is a service connected medical condition. Aparently my METS score falls somewhere between 1 and 3. Celia was right beside me in her wheel chair the entire time.
When we were preparing to leave, I asked the PA straight out whether I met the criteria, and he agreed that I clearly did. He then went on to say I was still going to have to deal with the rating process, and that even then, Legislative Action authorizing compensation for the condition is still mired down in Congress.
With the VA, if it isn't one thing, it's ten others...
Regarding trained med personnel, I have been in care since 2004, including a Implanted Pacemaker/Defibrillater replacement in 2009. My medical care has been provided by both VA and Non-VA facilities and has been uniformly first class. Each state has specialized facilites concenrtated in different VAMC's. The coronary care specialties facility for me is in Buffalo, NY; several hundred miles from my home. Luckily, I only need to make the trip two or three times a year. For surgical procedures, I book an overnight stay for the preceding night at the Valor Inn, which at least makes a weak effort to provide a bed overnight. It's a converted patient room with a lock on the door and a voucher for some 'food' at the Canteen. The rooms have TV's, so far none of them have worked. That's OK, though, there's a common waiting room with a tiny fridge, a microwave, and a TV. I wonder how the visiting Congresscritters make do...

Veteran representation with regard to claims-related issues is pretty inconsistent across the board. Where a particular organization's local reps may be excellent, others may not. There are Vet organization and government funded full-time professional reps all over. Some are great, others are bookmarks. Stick with the full-time professionals, and even choose them carefully.
You have to do your research before you grant one of them you limited power of attorney, which is the only way the VA will allow them to deal with the VA on your behalf. Changing reps in midstream is another excuse for a 'reset'.
Anyone who seeks money from you (lawyer, etc.) is only a last resort, to be approached only after all others have failed. Better yet, stay aay from them completely. Some claims may take several tries.
Your best information about specific reps will come from other vets who have dealt with them.
Expect a pro-forma denial on any non-presumptive initial submission, and keep up the pressure with disputes and clarifications; your rep will know what I'm talking about. Follow up all negative responses with continued action, never allow a refusal to drop without pursuing it to the absolute end.
The point is to keep the claim open until they no longer have any wiggle room left. Remain civil, never threaten anyone, and understand that any references about legislative representatives and lawyers that they can take seriously will result in your case being sidetracked. They will not pursue a case that they can claim is beng complicated with legislative inquiry or legal action. Only play those cards when all else fails. So far I have never had to.

Just wanted to add a phone number for the VA's PTSD services: 1-800-905-4675. Not for emergency use, but apparently a hook-up for counseling/treatment in different locales.

Great post and best of luck to all of you who are trying tright now as I still am 20 some years after wards and still going at it.
Records lost and I can't even tell you the amount of crap over the last few yrs. I have folders that are 8 inches thick from over the last 20 some years going trhough this.
My best advice to anyone make copies of everything and I mean EVERYTHING. I of course wasn't that smart back then and well it has costed me in the long run. I was diaginsed with copd a few months back and they are telling me it was asbestos related to the ship. If I ever even get it now it will more than likley be to late for me to enjoy any of it as there is no cure for my copd and its pretty rapid.

FYI, since June last year, no perceptible progress has been made on my claim. We are still awaiting rating and benefit determination.
My veteran is essentially going into orbit over the obstinate stonewall attitude of the VA. We both believe there is a deliberate slowdown on the government's part to process these claims, combined with cola freezes and other efforts to deny people monies owed them by the government.

My veteran is essentially going into orbit over the obstinate stonewall attitude of the VA. We both believe there is a deliberate slowdown on the government's part to process these claims, combined with cola freezes and other efforts to deny people monies owed them by the government.

I am a nationally accredited County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO). There are many great people out there to assist you in your claim. Seek them out.
OEF/OIF vets 5 year health care. In-country Vietnam Vets are having multiple serious health problems.

You know, my dumb ass is missing something here. When I came home it seamed like the VA's mandate was to keep you out of the system. So I sez to myself fine, and for the past almost 40 years I've paid for my own healthcare, worked and lived my life. Last Sept. I got fed up with paying BCBS $1,200./mo and walked into my local VA hospital, lo and behold 30 min. later I walk out, signed up, priority group three no co pay $8/mo prescriptions, world class, courteous, respectful medical care. I've had around 20 appts. there seams no end to what they want to do for me. I mean WTF is going on in the rest of the country, it's supposed to be a system isn't it? My local hospital can't be so different than anywhere else can it?

He can write a check to any needy vet that has an emergency need that would take too long to resolve through the usual channels, like "I need a new battery for my car, to go for a job interview tomorrow", or such. Of course, we get the cancelled check copies, so we make sure it's for something valid. Couple thou in the account already, looking good.Maybe y'all could investigate if there's a need in your county for something like this.
