I'm new to the hide. I've recently peurchased a Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 . I've made a few modifications but my current interest in a clip conversion kit. I have looked around quite a bit but havent really been able to find a good kit in my price range. I would like to spend about 200-250 max. Please, if anyone has done this or knows of some good kits, share them with me.

Do a search on DBM - there is LOTS of information available on this.

CDI will inlet the stock for your CDI bottom metal for not a lot.

If you are 'handy' you can go with a PTG unit or have it inletted by someone - I recommend having it inletted if you are not a dremel tool master.

Bolt fluting, there are several more.

I would look at replacing the Houge stock with something else before fluting your bolt or do bottom metal. You can find some stocks pre-inletted for badger type bottom metal, or you can scan the sale thread here and pick up a used stock and bottom metal. You wont find a better deal. No matter what you do, unless you have a mill at home, I would never try to do a bottom metal inlet. Most end up looking like crap and reduce the value of your stock.

I don't know about you, but I have no desire for a clip-fed bolt action precision rifle and cannot fathom why you would either. to do this, you'll have trouble having a telescope sight, mounted in the conventional fashion.

A detachable box magazine, however, is something useful.
