Hello all. I'm looking at getting my first LR bolt gun and my buddy recommended GA Precision to me. I visited their website and did a lot of research on them. I was thinking about ordering a custom gun built with their Templar action. does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations? I have some basic LR shooting experience from time in the military with AI .300 WM, but nothing substantial and am looking at getting a good gun that I can work up to without having to upgrade to a better gun later. Thanks in advance. Oh, and what about .300WSM?

Re: First long gun recommendation

A GAP rifle would be a great choice. There will probably be a shorter lead time on something like a Crusader, or Hospitaller. But, if you want something different then you can have it built that way. Just be prepared to wait. For the .300WSM, if you don't reload, there is a lack of factory match ammo.

Re: First long gun recommendation

you cannot go wrong with a GAP, take a look at the TRG line, less wait for those and about as good out the box.
welcome to the hide.

Re: First long gun recommendation

I'll ask for everyone else that can give you more qualified advise. What is your budget? and what do you want to be able to accomplish with it i.e 600yd, 1000yd 1500yd? Competition vs. hobby?

Re: First long gun recommendation

Budget isn't really an issue for gun or glass. I'm looking for something 1000+, and I just got into reloading as well so the ammo factor can be worked around. It's definately for hobby, unfortunately theres no time for comp. Thanks for the welcome.
