Hello all,

If you have used a mark 4 6x, what was your opinion? I have a chance to get one, and it would go on a bolt action 308 for general purpose hunting...

I like the KISS concept, I am a dialer, not a doper, and value clarity and repeat ability over magnificatication (by far!).

These seem to be well thought of, but wanted to take the collective pulse before the plunge!

Thanks, as always....

Re: Leo Mark 4 6x opinions

Have not had good luck with the mark 4. I current shoot Nightforce and IOR and would bet my life on there repeatable dials and the clarity. Nothing wrong the mark 4 but I think dollar for dollar you can have a better product. I shoot a lot a competition and hunting and optics are the most important part of the gun. Just a opinion many like the mark 4's.

I had one for a number of years, a Mark 4 6x with Mil dot reticle. Great solid scope. I had it on a .270 Win hunting rifle for a number of years. Shot it out to 800 yards several times.

Good luck

Re: Leo Mark 4 6x opinions

I have been using Leupolds for years and have never had a problem with them. I have used them on NUMEROUS hunting situations and they have always done me right. I have multiple large bucks on my wall that I don't think could have been taken with a lesser scope.

I even use a MK-4 on my hunting rifle and it has always made the boys in our hunting camp curious as to how I have made some of the shots I have. It is not me; it is all in the proper use of the optics and the options they provide. I keep telling the boys that but they just don't seem to get it. Use a laser range finder, plus a great optic, and expect to take home trophies. I can shoot 300 yards in the woods with absolute confidence and KNOW that my game is somewhere close.

I practice often at the range each "off season" to make sure I am on target and post my adjustments on a cut down 3 X 5 card that I tape to my butt stock.

My setup is not pretty....however...it gets the job done.

Just a thought, I hope it helps,

Rob

P.S. I am not saying this is the BEST optic in the WORLD. I am saying that in a hunting situation....they kick butt. You could spend thousands more and get an even brighter and bigger optic...but what would be the point in a hunting situation?
