Please advise if possible!

I currently have a custom 7SAUM and am putting together another build but am getting stuck on the BDM. Currently run a Alpine action with seekins "OLD" WSM BDM and mag which will feed my BERGER 180 Hybrid at 3.016 COAL. Everything on the market with a detach. Mag is only going to the high 2.9's?

Fact: I absolutely love the 7SAUM and BERGER 180 HYBRIDS; Love the Short actions and short Magazines for WEIGHT " I get it, its minimal - but its kinda like getting the last 50 fps out of it,ease and carry. Will be using a BIGHORN tac. and need some BDM, was thinking Surgeon ( really like ), or going back to seekins but both are AI/Alpha mags in the high 2.9's. I am all hung up on the COAL of my last gun because the same SMITH is going to build it. Should I forget the COAL of my last rig, get the Surgeon and develop a new round? 168's? Hybrids Jumped?

Rig is mainly for long range hunting 300 to 1000+ maybe, and some long range shooting on the farm. Most all shots are from a hide or pod.

Please help! My gun SMITH is about to block my number and file stalking charges against me.

My Best Regards, Chris.

Re: 7SAUM BDM anxiety !!!

It is hard to beat Seekins DBMs for a short action magnum...seat them long and shoot them fast.

+1. Nothing to be anxious about using the Seekins. Get one and move on with the build!

Thanks, Glenn. We know this is more about shooters' needs than the bottom line.

Once again, Glenn is the man...! I'd be in for one or two of these if he does a run. Maybe the way to roll with this is to structure a group buy, so Glenn can limit his risk and make good use of his production time. Just a thought...

Re: 7SAUM BDM anxiety !!!

Thanks Boy's!!! And thank you SIr, Mr. Seekins. I would very much like to use another WSM DBM as there seems to be a majority backing of the Seekins DBM. The value of the Seekins WSM bdm is greatly forgotton until you start trying to push that COAL in a short actions set-up. The COAL restrictions imposed by using the AI, Accurate mag, or Alpha is kind of a roadblock unless I could find a SMITH that has a different reemer and could set the bolt back a bit but I really really am against this as my man is a magician, period. Builds top shelf rifles.

Mr. Seekins Sir, is there any estimated time frame for the WSM run?

Regards, Chris.

Re: 7SAUM BDM anxiety !!!

Thanks guys, We don't need to do a group buy on them. We only sold 10 this year, so we just didn't make more when they ran out. Too many irons in the fire i guess

I don't have a ETA, It just wouldn't be right to say when we have so many parts to build that other are relying on, and im behind on. BUT we will make some next time we do Lapua bottom metal and keep a few around. Seems like lapua dbm's runs about every other month, so not forever.

Re: 7SAUM BDM anxiety !!!

I would be interested in a DBM and several 5 round mags for my 7SAUM build.

Re: 7SAUM BDM anxiety !!!

Every time I think about a 7 saum, it is the mag length that stops me.

So what I see suggested here is that there isn't a short action mag and action combo that will let me seat to the 180s to the lands, let alone chase the lands as the throat wears. I have an issue with that.

So would a surgeon 1086 action work better in my case? Who's bottom metal and mags would work best in the long action version.
