I am curious to see what magazine carriers/pouches you guys use for carrying 20 round PMAG 308 mags???

Either carriers/pouches with MOLLE attachment or stand alone units

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

I'm using HSGI Taco pouches for my pmags. The pouches are expensive, but they also work with AR mags and just about anything else similar. In a pinch you put a lot of different items in them too.

I use the HSGI Tacos as well. Who the hell doesn't like Tacos!

Here is a pretty good run down of the Taco and Woosatch-E plate carrier. HSG makes really great products.

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

Another Taco user. They hold M1a mags, AK, AR-15, AR-10, FAL, and practically any other rifle mags!! Have yet to find a more versatile pouch. I can run one belt for precision rifle or carbine and not have to change anything.

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

TACOs for me too. Didnt have much luck with FAL mags though, they tended to get hung up on the shock cord on the way out.

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

That TACO system looks pretty high speed. Fortunately, I'm not deploying anywhere any time soon so the lower speed kydex pouches work just fine for me.

Deadeye351 and Adam here on The Hide can fix you up Kydex Pouches Available attachments include TecLoc, belt slide and molle clips.

I've used these for numerous competitions and have never had a problem with mags coming out before I'm ready for them to come out.

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

Yes, the Tacos do look serious, and expensive for a mag pouch. I was looking for something that might hold 4 or 6 mags and therefore be less expensive on a per mag basis

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

Most of the cordura mfg's make pouches that hold multiple mags. Check out Triad Tactical, they have some nice ones.

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

Maxpedition makes a .308 molle pouch for about 20 bucks. No recommendation, but you might take a look...

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

I am running Raven Concealment kydex mag holders. They work well and are light.

have you used them with the PMAG 20 round mags?? or some other 308 mag....

I already bought a carrier that was only for M14 mags and the PMAGs did not work

I wonder if anyone has any experience good or bad with the product or the manufacturer in terms of quality, etc. </div></div>

I have a good amount of experience with it. It currently holds eight Springfield 20rd mags for my M1A. The fit is snug and there is an elastic band at the mag entry point for additional security in addition to the velcro flap that goes over top of the mag. No chance a mag falls out, even if being jostled.

However, I didn't like it for my 308 20rd Pmags. The fit is far tighter and even though I was able to get 8 of them in (after substantial effort), the carrier will no longer lay flat. In other words the extra width of the pmags causes each pouch to touch the other so that the carrier bows slightly. Even if I could live with that, pmags are difficult to pop out.

If not for this pmag issue, I would have bought 2-3 more emdom carriers as the product is excellent. If you look closely at the pics, they show 3 metal mags on the left and only the pmags on the right. Had they put pmags next to each other, it would be evident that it wasn't designed for them. I even thought about buying them to carry 1 Pmag in each pouch. The elastic band prevents them from falling out, but now the Pmag looks like a thin guy in a baggy pair of jeans.

I'm still looking for a solution to carry 8 308 Pmags. If I buy another M1A, I wouldn't hesitate to get another Emdom carrier. I'm only a weekend warrior so I don't need a chest rig and I don't want to use individual double pouches on rig or belt. I just want a single 8 Pmag carrier. Still looking. Hope that helps.

TriggerHappy,

thanks for the excellent feedback.
I am in fact looking to use it with Pmags. I bought another brands product and also had problems with PMAGS....

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

Anytime.

I'm always on the hunt for a good Pmag carrier. I've searched high and low and haven't found it just yet. When I do, I'll let you know.

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

Ordered some M248 ammo pouches will see how they work.

Just read the website and they say they will work with 308 Pmags, I have tried other mag carriers for my M1A magazines and the double mag pouches are very very tight on the Pmags. I will send email to these guys to get clarity. Been searching for this type of rig for a while.

Re: 308 Pmag magazine carrier/pouch

I have 4 Emdom Immediate Access Pouches that I use on my Eagle CIRAS vest. I have used these pouches in my last 2 deployments in AFG as helo door gunner. Running in and out of the bird plus facing wind stream of 120 plus mph I have never lost a mag. I have about 400 flying hours using these pouches. They work for me and create less bulk on my vest. Sits very close and snug to the vest with the plastic straps provided.

I also have the .308 pouches and used them for 150 flying hours for T/E. I put them on my Eagle Rhodesian vest. The pouches are durable and retain the mags for easy access. At first you have to force the Pmag in but after some use it will become easier. Many of the pj's use these pouches that role with the EBR.
