Gunsmithing Timney Trigger??

i was just looking for some thing i could do to my rifle, and i came across a Timney Trigger. IS there any one out there used them or had any experiance useing them?? are they good triggers or they a cheap product?? any infromation would be great thanks guys.

In my opinion they are great triggers. I use them in all of my Remington 700s. I actually prefer the feel and break of the wide-bladed Timneys to Jewell (another higher-end trigger), but it is purely a personal preference.

I have no experience with them in 700's but use them in all my Savage builds and love them.

I just installed a timney on my 700 and have yet to actually go out and shoot it but just dry firing it was crisp and a huge improvement over the factory that was in it. I also bought the wide blade/vertical trigger instead of the standard curve.

I had a skeletonized drop in timney on an AR and the break was crisp but heavier than i preferred (4lbs) so i bought a gisselle for that application and it has been what i was looking for on an ar application.

But for a bolt gun +1 for the timney.

Dont be fooled by the price, the Timney is a solid and dependable trigger. Quick and easy install and the break is much better than the stock x-mark.

Hugh improvement over stock, I personally would get a Jewell. No matter what you get they are so much better than anything stock.

dollar for dollar timney is great....Beanland put one on my 6.5 and I love it. I just bought a CG for my f-class and thats perfect. but for the money timney is my choice.

Just installed Timneys in a Ruger 77 and in a Mauser 98. Incredible improvement to both!

Got one on my Stiller Tac-30 action. I had to make a slight mod with a Dremel tool to get it to work properly with a KRG Whiskey 3 chassis. I understand this is the case with he AICS too.

No big deal though. It took only 5 mins.

I guess adjusting them is a bit of a trick, so I'm going to hopfully get with an experienced smith and get smart of the process before I pay around with that.

That said, what was sent to me by Timney was pretty darn good out of the box.

Just put one in my AR and it is awesome!! First time at the range I had a couple of my buddies shoot it and they ordered them immediately. You will not be displeased.

Just dropped a 510 into my R700 AAC and it was an amazing improvement at just less than 3lbs. Well worth the money

I replaced my factory rem trigger with a 510 a year back. great improvement in break and comfort. love the wide blade. i recommend the timney.

Timney 510s are in my 700s, and they are a huge improvement over the factory trigger. A consistent pull weight and a clean break with every shot.

If you like adjusting your triggers on your own I would suggest something else because of the locking nuts on the set screws. The screws have very little resistance, and when tightening down the locking nuts it is pretty easy to accidentally turn the set screws. Granted, a vice and proper tools can do this without problem, but it's something Timney really should do at the factory and rarely else. I love adjusting my triggers to get them where I want them, and the Timney is a pain in the ass compared to other triggers. Other than that I love my Timney, but you may need a longer sear in the 510U, so keep that in mind. Use the search box, there are other threads that have talked more about that. If you don't want to play with it it's a great trigger.

I have used Timney AR15 4lb triggers in my S&W 15 Sport and DPMS LR 308 and they are great triggers. I've been shooting for 52 years and have pulled on some good triggers but Timney beats them all.

Jewel triggers are nice. We use them almost exclusively. That being said the Timney is also a very good piece, significantly cheaper, and its a bit more robust.

I've seen jewels break. It's not that they are weak, its that they have 2x the moving parts inside so its twice the stuff to fail on you.

I've not seen a Timney fall apart and they break almost as clean.
