Hoping for some help here; my usual sources have all been dry for several months: looking high-and-low for a vendor that has a 14.5" 1/7 Chrome-lined Barrel M4 w/ F-marked FSB (or at least drilled and reamed for FSB) in stock.

Check out centurionarms.net. They're not in stock right now, but that's because the owner is away, but should be getting back soon. He only charges $40 for the fsp and pinning, which is a damn good deal considering ADCO does it for 100+ and the cost of the post. His barrels are good, I'm in the same spot you are and am waiting for him to get back.

Thanks for the responses guys, keep'em coming if you have any more ideas. I was actually going to order from Adco; checked Monday and 14.5" DD w/ FSB was in stock but went back to place the order yesterday and site shows OOS. Snooze and lose... I know, I know! Will check out Centurion on Monday.

Another option ... Primary arms has DD M4 (and lightweight) profile carbine barrels with FSBs. Marshall at PA is gtg.

Well... That didn't work!
First the good news: ordered from Primary Arms Saturday 8/18, received shipping notice Monday 8/20 at 08:19 EST (wow, that was fast!), pulled package from mailbox Wednesday 8/22 (double wow!! that was really fast!!)
Now the not-so-good: open box (excited, can finally finish this build, been looking high-and-low for this barrel), okay cool! …hold on …something looks off here… wait a minute…this is a mid-gas barrel; ordered carbine gas …BUMMER
! Checked paperwork (gee I hope <span style="font-style: italic">I</span> didn’t order the wrong barrel!) everything checks out: “Daniel Defense 14.5 in CHF Barrel Assy, 5.56, 1:7 M4 Car, Chrome Phos, w/ FSP” but no, this is definitely a mid-gas barrel.
Okay, not the end of the world, everyone makes mistakes (<span style="font-style: italic">even me!</span>
) I’ll call PA, I’m sure they’ll take care of it. Called Primary, very pleasant, very helpful, checked things out on their end, apparently Daniel Defense sent them a shipment of mislabeled barrels. Primary refers me to Daniel Defense: “…they’ll set you up with a RMA and get you fixed up with the right barrel…” Okay that’ll work I just want the barrel I ordered in the first place.
Finally hear back from Daniel Defense the following Tuesday, again very pleasant, very helpful, Chris says they’ll take care of me just like Primary said they would. Okay, all’s well that ends well… as they say. Just to make sure I’m going to get the right thing this time I ask Chris to check stock since the DD website says the 14.5” M4 barrels with FSP are out-of-stock. After checking Chris calls me back and tells me that they are, in fact, out of the barrel I ordered. Bummer! Chris then goes on to tell me they do have stripped barrels in stock if I could use one of those.
Now I’m thinking and so I ask: “…does Daniel Defense make their barrels or do they buy them from another manufacturer and just re-label them?” Response: “No, no, we make them right here.” So I ask: “Okay, if you make them <span style="font-style: italic">and</span> you have the barrel profile I want in-stock, but without the front sight base, why can’t they take one of the stripped barrels (they are in stock, right?), bore and ream it for the taper pins, toss the barrel and sight base in the box with a couple of pins and ship it off to me?” Response: “I hear what you are saying, I don’t know…”
Long story short called PA back, they sent me a RMA, I’m going to send the middy barrel back, and they’re going to issue a refund. I can’t really fault Primary Arms they are taking care of the mistake and, based on the service I received I would do business with them again. The thing with Daniel Defense does, however, leave me more than a bit confused…

I would just build a mid-gas barrel as long as it's 556, 1:7 chrome lined who gives a shit. Put some rifle length handguards and some decent sights on it and go play.

Within an hour of posting the above I received another call from Daniel Defense Customer Service. Again very pleasant and helpful; this time they told me that they could in fact do exactly what I was hoping for and machine one of their in-stock "stick" barrels for a front sight base and exchange it for the mislabeled mid-length that I received from Primary Arms. Now that's what I call customer service! <span style="font-style: italic">Could it be that 'Hide Karma??</span>
