I am still trying to understand the accuracy claims of +/-3m. I would have thought purely on the physics of time of flight principles it would have been tighter. That's a max spread of 6m which is not trivial for elevations at long distances.

thinking about this some more, especially if you time average measurements you should statistically reduce the uncertainty of measurement. It would be interesting to compare the output of the Terrapin vs the high end 25 unit, on tripods, same target, ten measurements... see how different the two readings are.
Anyone have both units for which to run such a test?

Off topic but i'm quiet intrigued by the picture on the homepage on the link above. What is so important about this pier / beach that there is a sniper on the roof??
Marketing wise I have my doubts to use this picture as a frontpage. (especially if you look closely and notice that he isn't using a Vectronix Terrapin)
I imagine that if there was a visit of a high profile person that it would be a lot busier.
I would find it quiet uncomforting if I was there for some recreation.

Easy at 1200, good to 2000 in the middle of the day with bright sunshine. You will be happy with it for sure.

took it out the last week on a hike and I could not range large targets past 1800 yards, depending on position with respect to sunlight. 1800 yards I could do no matter where I aimed.
With any help from clouds you should be able to get to 2000 easy.
At dusk or dawn, I have been able to get to 3000 and at night, you can range from 3500 to 4000.
