Hi all, I just recieved my steel targets from Jake and crew! But I have one question, what type of chain do you all use and the length per side The steel is 1/2" thick?

Thanks,
HammerHeadHank

Re: Steel Targets

Use a folded over piece of, conveyer belt, fire hose, carpet & hardened steel bolts to hang it

Re: Steel Targets

Junk but more modern snowmobile tracks are a option to adapt, your in the more snowy region.

Re: Steel Targets

Jake has conveyer belt chunks available. Fire hose is great if the fire department will give it to you. Usually, they fire departments have trouble getting rid of the stuff that leaks. Recycling places charge a bundle for used fire hose.

Anything like chain, cable and other things that can break when hit are not nearly as good as fire hose, conveyer belt and things like that. We use fire hose at our matches, and pieces 1.5 inches wide (hose cut in half lengthwise) x 12 inches long have taken well over 300 hits and look like they will last another 5000 hits. They look so durable, I'm not even making plans for any sort of replacement for a very long time.

Jake is really accommodating, and I'm sure you can get some conveyer belt from him. Use a leather punch (the kind you drive with a hammer) to put half inch holes in the belt.

Re: Steel Targets

for drilling holes, chuck up a 308 brass or bigger and sharpen the edge - cuts holes good
