I'm looking for a good glass for a Remington 700 VTR I just got.Iwant to stay under the 500.00 mark if I can,but if need be I can go a ittle higher.

What would you all suggest?

Re: Need Optics

What would be the normal purpose for the rifel be? Target? Hunting? Target/hunting? I would say one of the bushnell elite scopes if a hunter. Target- maybe a viper pst Good luck with your choice

Re: Need Optics

Target and some hunting.Mainly just something to play with.I bought the gun for a good price and planning on some upgrades for the future.

Re: Need Optics

I had a Viper PST that was a great scope, but I swapped it out for a IOR fixed 16x that really had noticeably better clarity, but that was around $800. If I was trying to keep it around $500 and I was just going to be using it at the range I would look into to SIII 16x42 MMD http://www.sightron.com/index.php?action=view_document&did=1201816362&cat_id=6&id=152

If you actually intend to use it for hunting that won't work as you will want variable power. But you will give up some clarity at that price range to have that ability. I guess what I'm saying is if you might just be shooting target with this rifle you'll get a better scope for your money if you're not trying to get a duel purpose scope.

Re: Need Optics

The main use will be for target,if I do any hunting it will be very little.Like I said I can go higher if I have to.

Starting out on a budget and blowing it all to hell is nothing new,LOL.I have been doing that with ARs for a few years now.

Re: Need Optics

LOL! Great, because I blew even more money by gradually working my way up to the IOR and losing money on each scope I traded in.

Like I was saying the IOR Valdada fixed 16x was noticeably better to shoot with than the 4-16x PST I had before it. With the the PST on 16x there was detail I just couldn't see. It's much easier to see my bullet holes even though the IOR has the same 16x. It's not that much more than the PST and it has 100moa.

I got mine from Scott@LibertyOptics http://www.libertyoptics.com/
You have to talk to him to find out what he will actually charge for one. The prices he has listed are higher than they actual cost. He will make it right if there are any problems with the scope.

Re: Need Optics

i just bought a vortex viper PST 6-24x50 FFP MOA and i love it. no complaints. it tracks very well and the reticle is crystal clear all through the magnification range with or without the illumination on. if you are willing to go a bit higher i would reccomend this scope without a doubt and vortex backs their optics very well. picked mine up for 899 new. i have seen a few go on this site for around the 700 range

Re: Need Optics

Thanks for all the help guys.I will check around and see which one I want to get.I like the ones with the illuminated reticle, but it is not a absolute.
