I feel like I bought a porn star and don't know what to do next.

I recently bought a S&B. It is the 4-16x42 PM-II. It has the illuminated P4f reticle, he stated it is the single turn model, no box or papers. The turrets read 1 "Klick" with a "K" not a "C". I downloaded the manual from S&B, mounted the scope and waiting for cooler weather to sight it in, but I am confused as all hell as to the term "multi-turn" . is this the Single turn?

My questions are, the center reticle has no measurement, I am assuming it is 7.2x7.2 inches @ 100 yards due to the length of other noted "dementions" listed in the S&B pdf manual ???

Also, how can you tell if the scope is a P, MTC or LP and what in the hell does that mean?

Waiting for the fire to start. . .

Re: Schmidt Bender PM-2 questions

My guess would be by the "K" that is a single turn cw MRAD knob on your 4-16. On the P4F it is approximately .85 mil from the center to the break and one mil increments with .5 mil hash marks.

More than likely it has parallax adjustment which would make it a P and if it has parallax adjustment and an illuminated reticle it would be an LP.

Definitely not an MTC unless it's the older style locking MTC. That is the "more tactile clicks" feature which is a rare option on that particular scope.

Re: Schmidt Bender PM-2 questions

I believe the multi-turn turrets that you are referring to are for the S&B 12-50 not your 4-16 PMII. Your scope has the single turn turrets and if you have an extra knob on the aft left side then you have an LP (illuminated reticle). The subtension on the P4F is 1.0 mil / 3.6"@100yds from the crosshair to the first hash mark on the reticle, however I can't remember what the subtension is on the break for illuminated reticles. Your scope would have the MTC feature only if you feel a hard clunk every full mil, however the knobs are distinctly different from standard single turn knobs. You have a great scope, I used to own 3 4-16's and kick myself in the ass every once in a while for selling them.

Re: Schmidt Bender PM-2 questions

Perfect, Thank you both. This is a LP, with both features on the scope. I hope to shoot it soon. My frustration almost made me miss my Leupold Mk4 LRT, well, not really . . .

I was looking at a house accross the lake from me at 807 yards, unreal clearity over my Mk4, Boy is this going to be fun.

Re: Schmidt Bender PM-2 questions

You have a great scope there. I have the same scope/reticle combo on my GAP rifle and it's a great combo. I really like the smaller size of the 4-16x42 which allows you to mount it pretty low, I use the Seekins low 34mm rings.

Re: Schmidt Bender PM-2 questions

I hope this makes sense.

From the centre of the cross hair to the edge of the cross, it mearures .7 mil, that small gap between the edge of the cross to the large stadia line is .3 mil

FYI given the current rings on the market, YOU CANNOT MOUNT A 42mm ANY LOWER THAN A 50mm. The mounting height for a 34mm tubed scope is limited by the height of the rings (at .92" Seekins being the lowest). For most if not all applications, the Seekins low work with either 42mm or 50mm objectives.

One word of caution - I have a a new 3-20x50 PMII and I think the Seekins low rings are a bit too low. The bottom of the turret housing is too close to the pic rail with the Seekins low rings. I have not dared to tighten the ring screws, but I think the result would either be a line to line fit, or even an interference (that would likely bend the scope). I just ordered the high rings (the next size up) to make a little space.

The objective has plenty of clearance to the barrel even with the lows though.

On my 3-20, using Seekins low, the turret housing cleared by .0035"

Re: Schmidt Bender PM-2 questions

That does make leveling the scope easier! I have a 0.0015" feeler gage that won't fit under my setup with low rings.

Ain't that the truth! After I was comfortable that there was daylight all the way across, I KNEW that it was level!! With this little gap, if it ain't touching...its level!

I just mounted my 3-20 on an FN SPR with a NEAR 20moa base and seekins low...the only feeler that made the gap after torquing to spec was my .0015"!
