Thought I would post some pics of my latest money pit, lol. I sure do love this rifle! It shoots extremely well with every grain bullet I have chambered so far. It doesn't seem to have any preference, just a hefty appetite, lol. And I would expect that from a battle rifle. I haven't shot while scoped past 400yds yet, but it will shoot half-moa with a cool barrel. Once the barrel is hot, the rifle will maintain moa with a full 20rd magazine. The farthest I have shot is 500 and that was open sights. Its very accurate with the irons. It will ring my steel 3'x3' plate all day with the old irons. She is heavy, but you sure do know you've got a rifle in your hands when you hold it!

    Lmao!

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

Yea you right, I taugh you well,
And LOW619 madppc is a buddy of mine and I was just messing with him. He knows I love that rifle

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

I think that is the first time that I have seen a M21 sporting a Nightforce. Looks pretty good!

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

I've never been a huge fan of that rifle...until now. Purists may disagree, but it's amazing how solid and pretty that rifle looks with a Nightforce sitting on top of it.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

If i knew how to down load picstures on here I would post mine kinda the same, Mine is a Smith Ent preban with Krieger DMR barrel bedded into a Mcmillan M3A with integral cheek riser in desert camo with a Vltor CASV extended rail Tan and NF 5.5x22x50mm NPR1 HS ZS

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

you need to make a photobucket account or another website like it.... upload your pic into photobucket and copy the link to that pic on photobucket... then make your post here on sniper'shide and click on the "enter image" button above the text box... takes a bit to figure it all out, but once you do it is really easy... get a pic of that stick posted!

Yea, that 2-stage trigger is awesome! I'm thinking of getting a scout with the walnut stock and keep it iron sights.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

Now that's a mighty fine rifle! I love my M1A SM..It can ring steel at 600 with irons all day.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

Nice rifle, I have the same rifle, I put a USO SN3 3.8X22 scope. Waiting for my JE Allen Stock for it. Ordered it over a year now.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

    OP

I noticed you wrote you shot this with open sights.
How do you get a good cheek weld with the stock?

Maybe my head is just to damn big but I tried shooting mine with irons.

I can't get a proper cheeck weld and still be able to see through the rear sight. The rear stock even lowered all the way flush sits too high.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

I raised my cheek rest to line up with my scope. If i shoot with my irons I do have to lower my cheek position about 3/8" to line up with the irons. But its nit bad at all. Before I mounted the scope my cheek rest was all the way down and it lined up just right for me.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

i LOVE the m1a rifle. I scoped mine, just couldn't get comfortable behind it.

so i went back to irons

    you have a great setup

And it really pisses me off because I like them a lot.

I can relate to that. I had good luck with the original M-21s used in Sniper Schools, but shot been shooting my Super Match for nearly 35 years in High Power, I can shoot it better with iron sights.

It has to be me. When I owned the loaded model M1A it was a perfect cheek weld shooting irons.
When I bought the M21 I tried crushing my cheek down into the stock enough where I could just about see through the peep.
But it felt so uncomfortable . It's not a big deal to me because I shoot it now scoped now.

The M21 has become my favorite semi .308
Never thought I would be saying that becuase I have a couple of AR10's also.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

    madppcs.

I luv your m21, but I got a suggestion for you. By the looks of your pics you are using a Springfield Armory 4th Generation Aluminum Scope Mount. These scope mounts are known to be pretty unreliable at maintaining zero on a scope. If I were you I would trash or sell your scope mount because they are basic junk. I hate to see people spend time and money on ammo trying to dail in setups like this. I have seen friends go from having 1moa to 4moa because the the lockdown screw always loosen up in one shooting session. You got top tier equipment on your setup with everything else. Spend a bit more money and get a better scope mount. 3 Suggestions on good scoupe mounts are: 1.Sadlak mount which is a improved Brookfield design. 2. A.R.M.S.® #18™ M21/14 Scope Mount 3.Smith enterprises M14 Scope Mount,NSN 5855-01-506-5750.

I hope you dont take offence at my comments but this will save you alot of time and ammo the long run.

    Sin.

I don't take offence to any of your suggestions and welcome them! I am closely monitoring the gen4 mount. I knew the reviews were mixed going into the purchase of the Gen4. So far its holding great. If i do see problems, my plans are the sadlak.

    But I do have questions.
    1. Does the sadlak give you the ability to use iron sights like the gen4?
    2. Do you have to pull the action from the stock to install the sadlak?

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

    KraigWy,
My plans are to buy an M1a scout or a full size match M1a and keep it irons. I want to use it as a carry rifle and keep it simple. I recogzine your rifle from the M14 forums. Glad to see you here as well. These rifles are addictive. I've loved them ever since I had one in the navy.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

    madppcs

The 3 of the scopes mounts I referred to should not need you to pull the action out of the stock. All of them mount the same way as the gen4 mounts, all have a view channel for the iron sights. Only issue is getting rings that will allow you to view thru. At this time you will only see the bottom half sight picture because of the design of rings you have on your setup. To get around that I have in the past used a quick cam adapter mount on top. This allows you to remove the scope and rings and retain your zero, but this raises the sightline of the scope .200" to 1/4" min. Since you have a adjustable cheek piece you should not have a problem using a quickcam adapter but it will be a added cost to you. Good quality scope mounts for the m14 are pricy. Alot of engineers have been working a long time to solve the issue of scoping the m14. Ill give you some links,You decide. These manufactures have pics on the mounts so that will give you a better idea how they work. All 3 I have used in the past. I am partial to the Smith enterprise myself.

    1. http://www.treelinem14.com/M14-M1A-Sadlak-Airborne-Scope-Mount-M14SMSAB.htm
    2. http://www.smithenterprise.com/products09.html
    3.Look for Arm#18 mount http://www.armsmounts.com/default.asp?mode=products&sub=mounts&page=2

I'll let you know a bit more about myself. I have been playing/messing with M14 for 20 yrs and seen almost all the configurations for scope mounts for the m14. Most all the mounts that are worth a shit are all made of metal and will withstand punistment of thousand of rounds shot thru the rifle. I dont think you will be sorry if you go with any of these 3 mount I linked. Each has its pros and cons but will eliminate any doubts that you will have about your set up.

I been trolling to SH forum for years and just lately got the idea on becoming a member. SH has good people with great advice and good advice/information can be hard to find. I found sometimes manufactures are not willing to give you enough information for you to make a informed decision about thier gear and when it comes to the m14 that can become pricy over time.

Hope this helps. Sin. PS guys I am a rotten speller so sorry in advance. I hate typing !!!

The M3A rig is the same that I am using. I luv that stock. Chassie systems are sweet but I am kin to traditional m14 configuration. BTW, It looks like your MCM build isnt bedded yet. Heads up if you dont know, make sure you buy and install a Stock Ferrule before you start bedding. Ive seen the front of thoose stock get real messed up without one. MCM should of sent you one with the stock if not brownell or fulton should have one.

Ill try to get my M1a pic posted soon. Going a different route than most. should turn some heads.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

I love my M21 too. I contemplated a different stock, but don't want to give up the look and feel of the walnut. It has a fix 6x SS in a Bassett Mount right now. It is hard to not want to shoot this thing with irons though.

A picture of mine. I built this one from scratch though. It has an Rader trigger in it. The one in the same as the M25 Whitefeather. SAI match trigger don't compare to that. A #1.5 trigger pull makes worlds of difference.

Re: My M21 with a Krieger barrel.

That my friend is no stick. It is a complete tree, if we have to refer to a weapon as wood.

    Which Night Force is that?
And what ammo are you shooting?
Trying to find a scope for my M21 with Krieger barrel. I have looked at NF and Vortex. I'm shooting .308 HPBT nosler custom.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
PS I have the scout also and it's a lot of fun to shoot too.
