So I bought this rifle with the intention of rebarreling it at some point. It has Remington's version of melonite on it which I thought was a coating not a treatment, now ib wonder is the reciever able to be trued or is it too hard? And on the other hand is the reciever already correct from the factory because of the type of rifle it is(I would doubt).

Machine tooling can cut through any of this stuff, no worries. Steven

Don't get sucked into the "armor plating" and "armor tough" and "nearly invincible" marketing bull$#!T from Remington on the TriNyte (sp?) coatings. Its just a coating...nothing more and nothing less. It is fine for keeping corrosion at bay and preventing the coated components from getting too beat up under normal use, etc.

Having your receiver trued down the road before rebarreling won't be a problem...but you will need a refinish job afterwards!

Also, to your last question...NO...your receiver has NOT been trued at the factory.

Cool, thanks guys, I didn't think it would really be an issue but figured I'd ask before I got too far into it.
