For long range shooting and up close did I buy the right scope?

Rifle 338 Norma Magnum

Goals: To be able to get on target out to 1800 yards

Re: Did I do the right thing? F1 3.5-15x50 MRAD

Should be able to easily shoot to 1800 and beyond with that scope.

Re: Did I do the right thing? F1 3.5-15x50 MRAD

Hell yeah you did! Be patient, you made a good decision.

Re: Did I do the right thing? F1 3.5-15x50 MRAD

The F1 is a great scope, I have one on my GAP-10. I'd personally like a little more magnification for the setup you describe, but maybe I'm a little more needy than most.

Like my f1, but am disappointed in the feel of the turrets. Definitely not as defined or audible as the razor or hdmr

</div></div>That remains your decision. Use it, optically check it, test its tracking and find out.

Classic cognitive dissonance

To avoid it in future, do the homework/get the input before the purchase decision, try before you buy. Cheaper in the long run too.

No good worrying about it now...you've got the scope.

Hope it works as you want/need it to.

If it was cognitive dissonance he would be trying to hold two equally conflicting emotions at the same time. Remorse is not a result of dissonance. Here the OP seeks to get rid of the negative emotion and settle on the positive one. So it's more like buyer's remorse.

Interesting: According to behavioral economists, most people who have chosen a thing automatically prefer that thing to the alternative.

But I have heard that not choosing the MLR2 reticle has the opposite effect.

Always thought buyer's remorse and CD (too hard to spell again

) were pretty much the same thing. I should have paid more attention in school!
