Anybody shooting the POF 308 w/20 inch barrel? Just wondering what people think about them as far as reliability and accuracy?. Trying to decide to buy one (POF or other) or build my own. I have about a $2500 budget? What do you guys recommend?

Re: POF 308???

I love mine. It eats any ammo I put in it. It holds Sub MOA or better if I do my part. With 168 Federal golds I have gone out to 727 yards with ease. I'm getting slightly over 2600 FPS with the 168 SMKs out of the 20"

Re: POF 308???

Gunbroker has uppers for $1650. I built mine almost what you budget is with a geissele hsm and magpul ubr. Sot it once and was impressed. I am planning on going to the range in the morning. Give an update after.

Re: POF 308???

I have a 16.5", it's been all I hoped for. Flawless function for over 2000 rounds now and accuracy better than most bolt actions. Upper to lower fit is a little sloppy, that's the only caveat I could give.

Re: POF 308???

I used a JP tension bolt(ar15 size) and it tightened it right up. Mine feels rock solid like a bolt action rifle.

Re: POF 308???

Killshot, your POF is almost exactly what I'm looking for. How does it shoot? Is that an AMD scope mount? Is your NF a 50mm or 56mm? Just wondering for clearance.

Also does POF make 6.5cr uppers?

Here is mine:

This is a NF 50mm with high NF UL rings. It just barely fits on the hunter rail(cutout). They use to make the 6.5cr, but now only make a 6.8 I believe. There was talk of pushing out an ar10 in 300wsm.

Re: POF 308???

I might be a little bit LMT bias...... OK, I'm big time LMT bias hehehe.... I would be all over this.

LMT LM308MWSK 308 Modular Weapon System 20" Stainless Steel Flat Matte Barrel for $2889, in stock, free shipping. This could be a real shooter... Just like mine, but with a stainless steel 20" barrel (mine is a CL 20"). DMR and built like a tank battle rifle all in one.

Re: POF 308???

Go with the POF. Mine is very accurate and have shot it out to 1000 yards. Set it up with a PRS and a 2-stage adjustable trigger. Likes the FGMM 175 in both the .308 and 7.62 x 51.

Good Luck

Re: POF 308???

Here's a good comparison on accuracy between the POF and the OBR.

The rifle shoots better than I do. Yes, it's an ADM-Recon mount. The GDI will arrive next week. The NXS is a 56mm and POF made a very limited run of the 6.5 Creedmoor.

The link that Elfster posted is the cheapest you're gonna find a NIB POF 308 anywhere.

Mine runs great. I run the Geiselle enhanced trigger in mine, just a preference. I'd say around the 50-100 rd mark the rifle and I really settled in.

It took me a couple of weeks of consistent practice to really develop consistent accuracy in shooting a semi vs. a bolt. This isn't a bad thing just different. The side benefit is that it helps remind you of the fundamentals and my bolt shooting improved as well.

The Rock barrels on the POF clean VERY easily(when I clean them), which is the same with some of my bolt guns with Rock barrels.

Another note: A suppressed semi gets absolutely filthy very quickly vs a bolt rifle, as do the insides of the magazine. I've run my POF dry and suppressed, and although the receiver and mag were loaded with carbon, it kept on running well beyond 150 rounds. I did end up cleaning the chamber, BCG and mag after that test.

This is a killer deal!

I actually went through kentucky guns when I bought my last POF rifle. Great customer service and no hassels.
