I am looking at picking up a NF 2.5-10X32 NXS 1Mil-Rad with Zero Stop for my HCS MK12 Mod 1.

Any suggestions on the Reticle? I was thinking Mil-Dot but it feels like a lot of people like NP-R2.

Thanks.

Re: NightForce 2.5-10X32 NXS Reticle

If you are set on mil-turrets/adjustments, then do yourself a favor and get a reticle to match (i.e. - the Mil dot).

If you think you'd prefer the NP-R2 reticle, then I'd opt for the matching MOA turrets/adjustments.

It all really comes down to a matter of personal preference and which reticle will better serve your intended purposes for the rifle.

I have strongly considered buying the same scope, but c'mon Nightforce!...you seriously only have ONE mil-based reticle? and it's a clunky standard mildot? no hash marks? no half mils? for the quality of work they put into their optics you'd think they would put a little more effort into their reticle selection...just my $0.02

I agree. Furthermore the velocity reticle offered in this scope is lacking as well. It should have a minimum 800yrds of holdover instead of 600yrds and should have the mil ranging found on the 3-15 velocity 1000 reticle.

If you must have .1 Mil-Radian adjustments, you'll only be able to get a Mil-Dot. I have that configuration in a x24 version and love it. The Mil-Dot is probably the nicest reticle currently available for the 2.5-10xs... but I'd be willing to put money on the MOAR being available around SHOT show. And that will be a pretty sweet combination.

Re: NightForce 2.5-10X32 NXS Reticle

The MOAR reticle is nice, but it still falls short because it's MOA based. MOA is cool and all for Stateside benchresters/hunters, but for LEO/MIL your world revolves around milliradians, and not MOA. Every issued miltary spotting scope, binocular, and rifle scope has a mil based reticle in it, and if your gunner and spotter are trying to talk in two different measurement languages you're doing something wrong. Leupold, Nightforce, Vortex, etc. will hopefully see the light and at least make mil/mil scopes more of a standard option rather than the exception. But I digress from the original topic...

Yep.
Just a simple half-mil mark would be a big improvement on their mil-dot.
Or even a shortened version of the MLR.

Re: NightForce 2.5-10X32 NXS Reticle

This is one of the hardest Nightforce scopes to get. Good luck finding one.

Do to how hard they are to get you may what to look at another scope but you my get lucky and find one.

Re: NightForce 2.5-10X32 NXS Reticle

Using a mil-dot in my 2.5-10x24, for this type of compact optic I personally think simplier works better. Its not that I am not a fan of the MLR2 or MD2 reticles but they might be a bit much in a 1-4 or 2.5-10 compact such as these, but as consumers it would be nice to have the choice.

Look at the IOR 2.5-10x42. Glass is of the highest quality and the MP8 reticle is awesome.

Re: NightForce 2.5-10X32 NXS Reticle

I have several of these with the mil-dot. I tried the NPR-2 reticle and found it to be too fine for the 2.5-10. It was very hard to pick up against a dark background. I ended up returning it, and getting another mil-dot.

Re: NightForce 2.5-10X32 NXS Reticle

Just snagged a 2.5x10x32 Mil/Mil from Jay @ Sport Optics.

They must be the first in the country to get the new run of these, they've been impossible to find!
