Hi Guys-quick question

Rem 700. 308 WIN.
I went from 2.800 to 2.840
JBM was way out when I shot the reloads at 2.840. I chronographed only at 2.800.

Thanks

Re: Will COAL change my velocity

it will change your velocity, but i think it will effect your ES/SD more.

Re: Will COAL change my velocity

In regards to velocity

ES = Extreme spread
SD = Standard deviation

Re: Will COAL change my velocity

The longer the OAL the more case capacity and less "jump" (distance to the lands), both of which effects pressure.

Re: Will COAL change my velocity

What does "JBM" stand for?

Re: Will COAL change my velocity

And a caveat here, please be careful if you are doing the reloading cause if you are asking these questions, you probably need to get some buds that have a good bit of experience to help you get up to speed before you go totally solo. Reloading isnt something to take lightly as you can F yourself up fast if you make a booboo.

ALWAYS be safe first as you only get one set of peepers, arms, hands, and only one you.....along with anyone else unlucky enough to be around you when you set one off thats out of spec.

And if you rely solely on software to determine a "safe load", bad things may just happen at some point. Start LOW and work up safely.....thats harped on for a reason.

Ok, off the soapbox, carry on and have fun.

Oh, and yeah, you can change ANYTHING aobut a given load and it may just change velocity, POI, pressure, what have ya. Thus the idea of being very careful. :)

Re: Will COAL change my velocity

Should be patient with COAL.

The same load but different from .015 jump to .015 jam may create over pressure.

I had seen one shooter feed the surplus ammo into his Kelby and that shot damage his rifle. Due to Kelby was chamber for tight nech ammo.

Becareful.

Re: Will COAL change my velocity

I recently gained 50 feet per second by changing the jump .050" so you can use it to gain velocity at lower powder loads if your rifle likes that sort of thing.
