Looking for any higher cap mags for my inbound Savage 12 LRP in 260 Rem. Google wasn't helpful on my first 3 searches. Do they make them? If so, where can I find them? Also checked Brownells and Midway and couldn't even find any mags to fit the model 12. The savage site has replacement 5 rd mags but it would nice for my match shooting to be able to have a higher rd. cap.

Re: Savage model 12 mags

try http://www.darkeaglecustom.com his 10rds mags look good , if you get some, post one to me in new zealand as he doesn't export. try ebay for savage mags , thats where i got a spare from. hope your 260 goes well, mines due in NZ at the end of the year,............

Re: Savage model 12 mags

I second the Darkeagle Custom recommendation. Impeccable work.

My Savage Custom Match .30BR is a Darkeagle gun. It is a work of art and a better shooter than I will probably ever be.

Thanks for the info! I did not know these were available. I've had my LRP about 2 weeks and other than the Accu Trigger have been very pleased with it.

Re: Savage model 12 mags

oooh, what is wrong with the acutrigger? My LRP just came into the LGS today, but being in CA, I have to wait 10 freaking days. I was surprised at how light the trigger was on the rifle (I can handle the rifle but just cant take it home)

And, what the heck, while I have a fellow LRP owner on here, I was also surprised to see my rifle with a black barrel and not stainless like the savage site. Did I get an older model? (probably going to repost this on the main forum too)

Re: Savage model 12 mags

LRPs are black barrels, moly.some folks have probs with the trigger. will see what mines like or change out to a basix one.
all reports say they shoot just fine,

Re: Savage model 12 mags

I've got a couple of the darkeagle mags for my LRP in 6.5 creedmoor. They have worked well though sometimes the last cartridge doesn't want to load correctly. What is the issue with the trigger, I really like mine, crisp, less than 2lbs, it's adjustable but I haven't even thought about it. Mine shoots great, I've had sub moa groups all the way out to 600 yards and I'm pretty much a beginner at long range shooting.

Re: Savage model 12 mags

My "issue" with the AccuTriger is mainly a personal preference. I don't feel comfortable using it in a run-n-gun type comepetion environment. I'm pretty good about not putting the booger hooker on the boom button until it's time to send it, but I keep tripping the trigger safety mechanism while trying to take up the slack. In an F-class type setting no big deal, run-n-gun not so much. I'm replacing it with a Rifle Basix. Oh and my DarkEagle magazine should be here this week.

Re: Savage model 12 mags

I just wanted to follow up on the Darkeagle 10 round magazine.

I ordered one on Friday the 21st and had one in my grubby hands by Wed the 26th. Dan was very responsive to email and answering my questions. I'm very pleased with my purchase. This magazine is well designed and very solid. I especially like how it quickly and easily locks up with the fatory DBM. It actually locks up easier than the factory magazines. I also purchaded the extended mag release, but haven't had the action out of the stock yet to install it. I will this week though and post some pictures of both. I ran the mag this weekend out at the farm and it functioned flawlessly both slow bolt and rapid bolt all day.

A big thumbs up to Dan of Darkeagle customs on a great product and great customer service.

Bringing this one back from the dead as I just ordered a 12LRP in 6.5CM this morning. Plan on ordering a couple of Darkeagle's magazines, was wondering if the extended mag release is worth the extra coin and should add it to my order.

Yes, the extended mag release is a worthwhile upgrade! You will be very happy with it and Dan's 10 round mags. With a little practice you can do a damn quick one handed reload similar to an AK reload just in reverse. The latch is in the front and you rock the mag in back to front.

Thanks for the reply, bunsen. Dan already replied to my email, said he's a couple weeks behind on the mags, but that I'm now on the waiting list.
