What Color Should I Paint This Stock

This is my hunting gun and the first stock i will have ever painted the color it is now is just primer the action and barrel will remain the color it is now


if yall could please make some recommendations and please feel free to post pictures of examples

also any tips on different painting methods and what kind of paint or anything else i might need would be greatly appreciated

I like to use a gap camo in the color of my surroundings I will be using the gun in.

Lavender with tiny "cotton candy" poke-a-dots. Then I would order some clear coat from House of Colors and make it shine like a diamond in a Allah's ass. With "Up Your's Allah" on the side of the stock.

No really, maybe a Magpul or Tango Down FDE on the action/barrel and then a CavArms Folliage Green or Cavarms OD Green from Dura Coat on the stock.

Or, if you are good at painting, a camo job on the stock. But definitely and FDE on the barrel/action.


I still like the "Up Your's Allah" idea better.

Just do something absolutely completely unnecessarily gaudy. Gold plate the entire stock and diamond encrust the pistol grip for stippling. Then have the barreled action plated in platinum. Get the magazine wrapped in pure gold leaf, and just because you can, have someone engrave "right hand of god" on the forend.
In all seriousness, I would go with a leaf green, or maybe a gray if you like neutral colors.

Remove the stock and lay some tall grass over it. Paint with a light tan and then move the grass and repeat with olive drab. Ta da you have a grass camo stock.

Scimitar suggested ATACS- agree. 'Not too tacky/gaudy, and matches alot of surroundings. Not enough time left this year to send it for pro paint job and receive it back so rattle can it yourself with the grass idea.
Man, if that's your hunting rig, you must have one bad ass comp gun.

When doing gap style do y'all do the dark or the light colors first

Do your light colors first. The darker colors cover the lighter colors better. If you do light over dark sometimes it the dark will bleed through.

Low tone and broken colors found in the areas you will be hunting in? It's crazy enough it just might work.

What colors did you use? That is awesome! You did a very nice job! Is this your first rifle that you have painted? From looking at this rifle, you may have found you a way to make some extra cash.

2 layers of a brown colored primer I used 4 colors. I can't recall what the tan is called at the moment. Mud brown. Olive drab. And flat black. Then finished up with a clear satin acrylic. All but the clear were sprayed through a mesh decoy bag. Used for my duck decoys. Alternating mesh position and orientation with each color the mesh was left slightly raised to allow for some overspray that helps blend the colors and yes this is the only stock I have ever painted
