Just received my new 1-6 from 3 Rivers today. This thing is a thing of beauty. Everything about it screams 2000.00 + optic. Feels solid, almost like you could club somebody to death with it and still would keep your zero.

Once I get it home and mounted up, I'll get you some pictures if you wish. I'm hoping to shoot it this weekend and will report back.

Come on 4:00

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

The Vortex 1-6x is a great scope especially for the price. We got a few in stock and they did not last 24 hours. We have more on the way.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

@Killzone,

Got to shoot it this weekend @ 50, 100, 200, 300

I have to say I am very very impressed. It is the perfect scope for anybody shooting 3 gun or does not really need a ranging type reticle.

The glass is super clear and the Bullet drop reticle seemed to be spot on. The Red dot was perfect even in bright sun.

Really debating picking up another for one of my other rifles.

I would have a hard time seeing how any of the competitors that cost more could add any features that Vortex did not include. I give it 2 thumbs up.

Would not hesitate to buy another.

Mike@CSTactical has one coming in for me. I am pretty pumped!

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Awesome, I see the guys I got mine from have 1 left. Sure it won't last long. Had mine in 3 days after I ordered it.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I snagged the last one from 3 Rivers Precision. Nice folks to deal with. I will post again after I have mine.

I was so pissed when I saw that they had one in stock, I ran to the bank deposited the funds and came back to buy one and you bought it. Enjoy lol

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Wanting to get one for my new AR. What mount do you use? I see Vortex has 2 and 3 inch offsets. Is the difference just eye relief?
Thanks

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I use the 2" offset on my 1-6 but I run it all the way forward on the JP flat top.
If you are a nose to the charge handle kinda guy = you will want the 3".
Be certain to tighten the bottom screws on the rings down tight with the gap at the top to keep it locked on the base best. = I had a friend with a LaRue mount and with the top tightened first it left the bottom mounts to shift in the base.

Get the Throw lever from MGM I have one in a photo in the other 1-6 thread that is [Lowlights] review

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I have mine in a Larue SPR mount and have a ADM Mount as well. You can't go wrong with either IMHO.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I really don't understand why vortex would release these without having a mil mil option ready to go.Makes no sense to me.

And it doesn't look like there will be that option for a year or more.

I really want this optic, two actually, and if I want one anytime soon, I am going to have to go moa. Seems that more guys are shooting mil than moa, but I guess this miculek reticle won out.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I for one am very happy that Vortex did not hold back the 1-6 with the JM reticle until the Mill reticle was ready.

yes I would like it with more information in the reticle, BUT the new 1-6 exceeds my expectations in many ways just the way it is now. Even if I did not know the they were going to continue making improvements.

Even a 9 year Old can make a hit at 500 yards with only one quick reference with me showing him the reticle and what ladder line to hold for 500 yards. us calling the wind wrong was the only reason his first two shots did not correct.

The wind was variable and shifting, his Dad in the photo was spotting for him and his smile still comes up ever time the shot is talked about.

I am glad it works for your needs, and damn happy to see a young man getting brought into our pastime. Good job all around.

Just surprised that Vortex chose to come to market without having a mil option at least close to being ready. I understand (somewhat)the marketing behind the partnership with Mr. Miculek, but from what I know, I thought mil/mil was more common than MOA. Just seems logical.

But on a more happy note, it seems that the general population is really pleased with this optic, which is what I was waiting to hear. I handled one of these at the NRA show and was very impressed.

I hope the red dot is as functional in daylight as a T1 or similar. That, plus being able to dial up to 6x would make it just about a perfect optic for both my 16" HCS Recce, as well as my 8.2" Noveske SBR.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Sorry KillZone45. It was me that got the last one at 3 Rivers Precision. They were great to deal with.
I have spent some time with mine now. The glass is very clear. The scope is well made with nice features. The red dot is every bit as bright as my Aimpoint T-1 with the 2 moa dot. The red dot is definitely useable in full daylight.I like the brightness control with the "off" position in between each brightness setting.
I have mine mounted in a LaRue SPR mount and a scope lever from www.3gunstuff.com . The scope is definitely worth the money.

I am very glad to hear that the dot is similar to a T1. This is exactly what I have been wanting in a scope (except mil/mil). Like an Aimpoint but with the ability to crank it up to 6-8x. Perfect for both my Recce and my 8.2" Blk.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Does anyone know if Vortex is going to offer a TMR style reticle on this scope?

I havent heard anything for sure, but what I did "hear" is that there was not going to be anything mil based for at least a year.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

@killzone the guys over @ 3 Rivers Precision gave me a call today, They got a couple of the 1-6's in stock. I was going to pick up 1 more, but funds are a little low right now.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I registered just to say thanks for the heads up.

Can't wait for it. Very informative place here.
Thanks all.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Can anyone compare the brightness of the red dot to any known daylight bright scopes, like the short dot, Zeiss, etc???

Thanks, I am anxious to see one in person.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Was able to use one of these a couple of weeks ago. I think I am going to have to procure one for myself

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Hummerdawg, You definitely need to pick one up. The more I shoot with this the more I like it.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Took mine out today and it performs as advertised. 15 round group from my 16" AR under 3moa in heavy winds, at 100 yards. Love the field of view. It's the most eotech like scope I've tried.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I have a Razor HD 5-20 and love it! I am itching for the 1-6 to come with a different reticle because I have an M1A that is in dire need for an optic and Im just not quite sold on the vortex pst for it. If anyone hears more info please post!!

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Picked one up from Scott@Liberty Optics, cant say enough good things about him and the company. Yesterday I received my 1-6, today my Borka tools kit arrived and tomorrow my ammo from Southwest Ammunition comes. Sunday Ill be setting it all up and shooting my LWRC REPR for the first time since I bought it 7 months ago. Pretty excited!

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Used my new Razor at a low-light match this weeken and it functioned flawlessly.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Finally got to shoot some targets out to 400 yards today. Starting love this thing more and more. I was a little skepticle about the reticle at first, but it works, for the 5.56 round I was thinking maybe I wanted more of a ranging type reticle, but with the 5.56 50-300 Yards if you old just above center mass you can hit man size plates all day long. If your on the fence don't worry, you will be very very satisfied. I'm getting ready to pick up another, soon as I unload one my PST's.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Im liking mine more and more, shot out out to about 300 so far pretty easily. Want to stretch its legs further in the next few weeks.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Just ordered one from EuroOptic, they have some in stock!

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

I am selling a 2.5-10 NF, and am buying at least one Razor 1-6. I wish it was a mil based reticle, but it appears that's going to be awhile.

I want one for my RECCE and one for my 8" Noveske Blk. Time will tell I guess.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

i've got one of these i'm playing with, i love everything about the optic, it's just a little heavy.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Just a friendly update.

I have close to a 1000 rounds through mine and I'm very happy with it. I highly recommend it to anybody looking for one.

On a side not if your looking for one. I did get a coupon emailed to me from 3 Rivers stating 10% off all their optics till the 2nd of december. the code was " cyberweek " I think. If not PM and I'll try to dig it out of my deleted mail folder.

Re: New Toy vortex 1-6 HD2

Your going to like it mike. I'm really enjoying it. Clear glass and easy to hit at distance quickly.

Let me know if you sell that as a demo when you are done Mike?
