I'm fixing to start loading for a BAR 300 win mag.I've never loaded for a semi auto this big.Is there anything to do different? This may be a dumb question, but I just wanted to ask.None of my books say anything about semi auto magnums. Thanks

Re: BAR 300 win mag

don"t try to neck size, use reasonably hard primers, ie CCI military

Re: BAR 300 win mag

It was made to shoot store-bought, off-the-shelf ammo. Full length size, trim to length and try to get something that runs about the same speed as whatever you have been shooting. I load for a BAR 30-06 and use 4895 (either one) or RL-15, but you probably need a different powder for a 300 mag. Sierra loading manual runs low to middle of road for speed and pressure; should be safe.

Re: BAR 300 win mag

Thanks for the info.I'm going to use reloader 25 and cci 250 primers to start with and a 200gr accubond.I don't plan on pushing it very hard.

Re: BAR 300 win mag

I have a 7mm mag BAR and it shoots a variety of reloads well to supeisingly well. I did have to get a small base die for it, but that was kin of expected on my end. Also, I can't think of any loads where it didn't show pressure signs before book max so be sure and load conservatively.

Re: BAR 300 win mag

I'm hoping to get by without having to get a small base die,but what ever it takes. Thanks
